Danfoss Climate Solutions is seeking a skilled and motivated Lead Embedded Software Developer to join our Controls and Meters Product Team in the HydronicS Division. This team focuses on developing cutting-edge controllers and meters for the District Energy market. As global digitalization accelerates, the need for connectivity, IoT, and cloud-based solutions has grown, driving demand for innovative products that deliver actionable data for optimization and added value. 

In this role, you will lead a team of three developers, collaborating closely with colleagues across Bulgaria, Slovenia and Denmark. You will be responsible for guiding the team’s technical direction, ensuring high-quality deliverables, and fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.

Job Responsibilities

 

As the Lead Embedded Software Developer, you will play a key role in designing and delivering embedded software solutions for valves and electronic controllers used in district energy applications. You will manage the full software development life cycle while also mentoring your team and driving best practices. 

Your responsibilities include: 

Leading the design and architecture of the embedded software platform in collaboration with team leads and stakeholders.  Overseeing the day-to-day activities of your development team, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines.  Acting as the primary point of contact between software (SW) and hardware (HW) workstreams.  Driving the development of embedded software systems for electronic controllers and energy meters.  Managing all phases of the software development life cycle (SDLC), including requirements analysis, design, implementation, integration, and testing Ensuring the development and execution of unit tests.  Mentoring team members, conducting code reviews, and promoting continuous improvement Background & Skills

 

To be successful in this role, you should have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in software engineering, computer science, electronics, mechatronics, or a related field, along with several years of experience in embedded software development. Experience in a leadership role or mentoring team members is highly desirable. 

You should also have expertise in: 

Embedded software development with a strong command of C (knowledge of C++ is an advantage).  Working with processors such as Cortex-M3/M4/M7 (experience with ST processors is a plus).  Designing and testing mechatronic products, including hands-on lab work.  Hardware/software integration (e.g., MCU peripherals).  Communication protocols like RS485, TCP/IP, Modbus, BACnet, BLE, etc.  Building scalable software platforms that support multiple products.  Full SDLC and agile methodologies like Scrum and DevOps.  Static code analysis and unit testing.  Excellent communication skills to work with cross-functional teams across Bulgaria, Slovenia, Denmark
