Lead Endocrine Medical Technologist | Dept of Derm Path| Day| Full- Time
Overview Under general supervision of the Laboratory Director, Section Directors, and Endocrine Supervisor, the Medical Technologist II - Endocrine performs, but is not limited to: working together with other Clinical Laboratory Technologists to handle all duties associated with the UF PathLabs Endocrine Autoantibody Laboratory/ TrialNet ICA Core Laboratory. Performing laboratory testing of human biological samples for diagnostic as well as research purposes. Methodologies for testing include indirect immunofluorescence (IFA), Radioimmumoassay (RIA) and Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Participating in the overall maintenance of the laboratory operation including supply inventory audits and purchasing, instrument and equipment maintenance, and compliance with all laboratory policies and procedures. Responsibility for all routine documentation associated with the performance of laboratory testing including reporting of results and the recording of all quality control documentation. Participating, with other technologists, in the development of tests as defined by the Directors. Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:: Licensure of MT; training as a Medical Technologist; or, 90 semester hours of science and completion of an AHCA approved training program. Minimum two years of appropriate experience. Preferred Qualifications: Five years of experience as a Medical Technologist is preferred. Knowledge of tests associated with endocrine autoantibodies. Ability to perform endocrine autoantibody assays. Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate and execute scientific experiments. Ability to use problem solving techniques in the laboratory. Ability to communicate with collaborative investigations, physicians, nurses and technologists. Ability to collect and analyze data. Ability to understand and apply rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to the Biological Sciences. Knowledge required includes: expertise with computers, multiple laboratory procedures and data management. Motor Vehicle Operator Designation (Required):: Employees in this position: Will not operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose Licensure/Certification/Registration:: Licensed or temporarily licensed as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in one of the specialty areas to which the position is allocated and for which the laboratory is licensed under Chapter 483, Florida Statutes.
