Job Description SummaryAt Avio Aero, a GE Aerospace Company, we’ve been reimagining the power of flight for more than 100 years. We are specialized in the design, production and maintenance of components and systems for engine and mechanical transmissions applied to both civil and military aviation (i.e., accessory drivetrains, engine thermal management, turboprop & helicopter reduction gearboxes, etc.).
As a technical expert in the field of turbine aerodynamics, the Lead Engineer will report to the Avio Aero Engineering Manager for Turbine Aero and will be responsible for leading and supporting aero design, analysis and validation activities for new products introduction and technology maturation programs both for commercial and military applications.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

Lead aerodynamic design, testing and analysis of novel low-pressure turbines and turbine frames, coordinate aero design with other technical disciplines, with understanding of engine integration at system level

Participate in and lead technical reviews, support design best practices interfacing with the global engineering team

Participate in problem solving and innovation initiatives

Identify improvement opportunities and apply Lean tools to remove waste

Required Qualifications

Master's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering

Substantive level of experience in the field of turbomachinery aerodynamics

Good understanding of the physics and principles associated with turbine aerodynamic design

Proven track record in delivering on complex programs and ability to work in cross-functional global team in multi-cultural environments

Demonstrated ability to advance the technology state of the art and ability to generate innovative solutions

Fluency in English and Italian

Work Visa in accordance with local regulation is required

Desired Characteristics

Hands-on experience in computational fluid dynamics, design optimization and data analytics

Experience in scale and full-scale testing, including test planning, instrumentation, test conduct and data analysis

Self-directed, highly motivated, able to manage work-load across several activities

Quick learner, flexible attitude, exceptional communication skills

Keen listener, proven facilitation and collaboration skills

Passion for technical excellence and technology advancement
