About Position
As a Lead Engineer Control System, you will be responsible for project execution activities on Control System design and working for Hydro Control System COE.
You will work autonomously and deliver as directed and under supervision of the Main Package Engineer (MPE, Control System COE) for the project or by the Control System Engineering Manager.
You will perform hardware and software design of the various hydro Control system packages for one or more projects, on own DCS or on 3rd party control solutions.
**Job Description**
**Role & Responsibilities**
Primary Skills
+ Work on power plant control system design deliverables, networking and cybersecurity solutions involving PLC, IO devices, Server configuration and deployment, network architectures, switch configuration and trouble shooting.
+ Install and configure servers, network managed Switches, Routers & Firewalls, etc., for a power plant control environment (usually Rockwell, Mark VIe control system). Should be able to define VLANs & Network segmentation.
+ Read processing notice, create Functional Analysis documents and perform SW programming, logics, creation of static and dynamic mimics as per P&ID and standard faceplates using Automation design tools (RS Logix, Studio 5000, FT View, Control ST, Cimplicity, Workstation ST, etc.), HMI configuration, Alarm display, etc., simulation testing of software.
+ Perform Soft IO configuration for standard communication protocols prevailing in the industry (Modbus, IEC61850, IEC60870-104, DNP 3, etc.).
+ Perform interlocking design, wiring principles, etc. testing of control panels at GE Vernova workshop or supplier premises, support FAT, etc.
+ Implement secure design practices in system design and software programming.
Day-to-day activities include, but not limited to -
+ Perform contract analysis, concept design, reverse engineering, prepare work-statement document.
+ Document technical data generated for the assigned project.
+ Review supplier documents (IO list, P&ID, Minfex data of partners) and prepare/update IO list.
+ Create supplier technical specification for BTS or BTP DCS solution, coordinate with suppliers & do technical follow up.
+ Prepare/update Logic programs, HMI mimics views as per P&ID and standard faceplates.
+ Prepare and update OMM document.
+ Track project schedule and implementation plan.
Other job needs -
+ Undertake occasional short-term travel to customer and supplier premises for technical discussions, design follow-up, testing, FAT, etc.
+ Perform Site Survey activities, mapping existing systems and compile design inputs.
+ Prepare de-commissioning and dismantling needs (manuals) for the system.
Partnership
This role calls for cross-functional interface, positioned on control design, with coordination with several process partners and customers. Collaborations include, but not limited to, interface within Engineering functions including Product development (NPI), Supply Chain and Customer facing organizations.
Personal responsibilities –
+ Deliver trainings programs to internal and external customers.
+ Work on quality & productivity improvement and cost-out actions.
+ Perform interface engineering, Site Support.
+ Development of standards and design practice guides and use in project.
+ Collaborate with global teams on project execution activities.
**Qualifications**
+ Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Electrical/Electronics/Instrumentation/Control from accredited college or university
+ 8 to 14 years of Controls Engineering experience with at least 5 years relevant experience in PLC hardware design and software programming. Should be aware of applicable standards and best practices in DCS design, including HW design, SW logic and User interface (HMI) design, control cubicle design and cybersecurity solutions.
+ Should be aware global Cybersecurity standards such as IEC62443 & NERC-CIP. Tools Expertise – Rockwell Automation/ Mark VIe/Siemens/ABB/Emerson, etc. based Control System tools (RS Logix, Studio 5000, FT View, Control ST, Cimplicity, Workstation ST, SCALA, SICAM)
+ Preferred industry experience – Power, Large EPC, Oil & Gas.
+ Good command over written and spoken English is mandatory for global stakeholder and customer management.
**Desirable**
+ Working experience on Rockwell Automation or Mark VIe based Control System is preferred, however similar experience on other reputed DCS systems like Siemens, ABB, Emerson, etc. is acceptable.
+ Candidate with exposure in Cybersecurity domain will be an advantage.
+ Able to manage and resolve conflicts in a fast-paced project execution environment. Clearly communicate and listen.
