Lead Engineer (Water Solutions)

Job Summary: 

If you are a DCS professional, Emerson has an exciting role for you! The Lead Engineer will work with our energetic Water Solutions' team and will be part of a team to craft, implement, simulate & test controls and graphics from Control Strategies / Narratives, SAMAs, P&IDs and competitor DCS / PLC controls / graphics on Emerson’s Ovation platform for various Water & Wastewater treatment applications. You will participate in project Design Review Meetings, Customer Workshops and Factory Acceptance Tests with customers to demonstrate application software functionality.  

In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be: 

Project Familiarization: 

Understanding of Project Specification, scope of work, P&IDs, electrical & architectural drawings within the specification package  Integrate with existing Project team by leading and conducting internal Emerson meetings on technical content and coordination with vendors 

IO Database: 

Build and maintain IO DB in OPVE and review Design Modifications for impact to IO DB  Understanding of IO partitioning standard methodologies  Updates to Customer for Termination List details 

Controls & Graphics Engineering: 

Understanding of the processes and controls of a Wastewater facility and understanding the use Control Narratives  Coordinate with GEC implementation teams; providing guidance as needed 

Participate in Customer Meetings and Workshops (In-Person / Teams) 

Lead and support the discussion of technical content with customer, Engineer of Record (EOR), end-user etc.  Create workshop content: Agenda, Meeting Minutes, References, etc.  Join in Customer Hardware / Software FATs (In-Person; Teams). 

Technical Correspondence: 

Internal exchange with Emerson teams and external exchange with Customer teams  Create and maintain Technical Submittals, Build / assemble project submittals and create Re-submittals based on Engineer Responses  Review technical content of other project team members 

Request for Information (RFI) Process: 

Create technical RFIs, advised to Customers, End-user, Contractors & Subcontractors, Answer incoming emails from Customers for consultation on their RFIs and Engineer Responses  Understanding of Networking such as Field LAN Router (FLR) configurations and Links Switch (LSW) configurations  Understanding of Datalinks and ELC configurations, Ovation Hardware, Cabinet Configuration drawings and work with Hardware Engineers  Coordinating SME requests (SMERQ) and entering SMERQs for execution of Network configurations and Datalink configurations

You enjoy challenge of unfamiliar tasks and seek innovative approaches to tackle a problem. 

For This Role, You Will Need: 

4 years bachelor’s degree in ECE, EEE, I&C, E&I  5 - 15 year of experience with 5+ years' project engineering and / or commissioning experience in Emerson  Control design, implementation, process testing for Power / Water Treatment plants  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form  Proficiency with ISA and SAMA logic symbols, Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic schematics  

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart: 

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, Problem-solving, decision-making, and planning skills  Ability to write reports, business correspondence and commissioning documents  Ability to optimally present information and respond to queries from management, clients and customers  Experience of working on WWWT projects will be advantageous  Proficiency with one or more DCS/PLC platforms (e.g., ABB Pro Control / Bailey INFI 90 / Symphony Harmony, Yokogawa Centum VP / CS3000, Siemens T3000 / TXP, GE Mark V / VI, Mitsubishi DIASYS Netmation, Invensys, Honeywell TDC3000, MaxDNA, MetsoDNA, Alstom Alspa320, Allen Bradley / GE-Fanuc / Schneider / Siemens PLCs & SCADA etc.) Knowledge of datalinks (Modbus RTU / TCP-IP, ELC, Profibus, OPC)
