Title:

Lead Estimator

The Lead Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for projects by analyzing project requirements, scope, and technical specifications. This role involves working closely with project teams, engineers, and procurement to ensure that cost estimates align with project objectives, industry standards, and client expectations.

Cost Estimation & Analysis:
•    Develop detailed cost estimates for various project phases, including feasibility, conceptual, FEED, and EPC.
•    Perform quantity take-offs and cost breakdown analysis based on project drawings, specifications, and work scopes.
•    Analyze labor, material, and equipment costs, considering market trends and industry benchmarks.
•    Ensure cost estimates reflect project risks, schedule constraints, and contract requirements.
•    Maintain and update historical cost databases for future reference and benchmarking.
•    Prepare timely and accurate cost estimates, quantities, prices and costing to meet AACEI classifications ranging from Class 5 to Class 2, across the various portfolios.
•    Demonstrated understanding of analysis and assessment of subcontractor quotes.
•    Detailed tender handover including development of Basis of Estimates.
Proposal & Bid Preparation:
•    Prepare and review cost estimates for proposals, ensuring competitiveness and alignment with client expectations.
•    Collaborate with project teams to develop pricing strategies and bid submissions.
•    Support commercial teams in reviewing contract terms to identify cost implications.
Collaboration & Coordination:
•    Work closely with engineering, procurement, and project management teams to ensure accurate and comprehensive estimates.
•    Engage with subcontractors and vendors to obtain quotations and validate cost assumptions.
•    Participate in internal and client meetings to clarify cost estimation methodologies and assumptions.

Risk Assessment & Value Engineering:
•    Identify and assess potential risks affecting cost estimates and recommend mitigation strategies.
•    Support value engineering efforts by identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality and performance.
•    Evaluate alternative construction methods, materials, and technologies to optimize project costs.
Reporting & Documentation:
•    Prepare detailed cost reports, presentations, and justifications for project stakeholders.
•    Ensure proper documentation of cost estimates, assumptions, and supporting data.
•    Track and report deviations between estimated and actual costs to improve future estimating accuracy.
Continuous Improvement & Compliance:
•    Stay updated on industry best practices, cost trends, and market conditions.
•    Ensure compliance with company procedures, client requirements, and industry regulations.
•    Contribute to process improvements and the development of standardized estimating tools.

•    Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
•    Minimum of 10 years of experience in cost estimation within [industry/sector, e.g., oil & gas, construction, infrastructure].
•    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
•    Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
•    Knowledge of contract types (Lump Sum, Cost Plus, Unit Rate) and procurement strategies.
•    Understanding of project controls, scheduling, and risk management principles.
