SUMMARY: 

The AI Hub and Gateway team at 84.51 is enabling access to industry and Kroger proprietary AI models, tools, services, and information for internal technologists. We strive to make AI easy, accessible, and available to data scientists and engineers, and to provide no-code tools and services for all 84.51° and Kroger users.

As the LEAD UX DESIGNER, you'll play a crucial role in shaping the design of our AI Hub and its associated products. Your primary focus will be on championing the user by leading user research and testing, and ensuring that our designs prioritize user needs and ease of interaction. Collaborating with product management, you'll influence the strategic direction for how users experience solutions, balancing user needs with desired business outcomes.

You will be responsible for guiding your cross-functional team in creating outstanding design solutions. With a passion for innovative design and a user-centered approach, you'll design components that our development team can utilize to craft exceptional user experiences. You enjoy collaborating with other designers, developers, and product owners, and you excel at finding creative solutions to unique challenges. You thrive on feedback and are always eager to improve.

This role requires excellent communication, collaboration and organizational skills, design and user research expertise, and experience working with technical personas as product users. Direct experience with designing Generative AI experiences is strongly preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Collaborate on a cross-functional team comprised of product, engineering, and design to deliver a unified, quality product experience Use personas and other data to understand user problems, behaviors and goals; translate user insights into design problems Conduct and lead user research and testing Champion industry leading UX design principles to deliver outstanding customer experiences. Communicate design needs with your team through appropriate documentation, user flows, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes Monitor user engagement and identify opportunities for improvement and innovation Stay up to date with design best practices and advancements, both internal and external Dedicate time to learning and development of Generative AI and the technology industry

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:

5+ years working as a User Experience Designer, Product Designer, or similar role Experience leading the design of web or mobile software on a cross-functional team with developers, data scientists, and product managers in an Agile environment Experience in creating user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, production assets, and documentation Ability to facilitate design sessions and effectively present to stakeholders Experience in facilitating forms of quantitative and qualitative user research (e.g. usability testing, card sorting, participatory design sessions, etc.) Skilled in a general technical acumen, able to efficiently converse with data scientists and software engineers and understand their development processes Passion for emerging technology and generative AI Portfolio demonstrating design activities, processes and deliverables. Working knowledge of Figma or similar prototyping software Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to lead under ambiguous requirements BFA/BA/BS degree in Design, Computer Science, or other related field or equivalent experience
