Job Description SummaryThe Lead HVAC Engineer will be responsible for the HVAC systems on-site within the Fuel Manufacturing Operations (FMO) building which includes regulatory compliance required by NRC licensure SNM-1097, providing recommendations to make systems function more efficiently, assisting in the maintaining of the existing equipment, as well as championing the design, installation, and commissioning of new hvac equipment.

Job DescriptionEssential Responsibilities: Lead engineer with ownership and accountability for several fuel production processesResponsible for supporting planned and unplanned maintenance activities on HVAC equipment including but not limited to fans, air handlers, filter housings, water pumps, scrubbers, boilers, chillers, compressors, and vacuum pumpsResponsible for understanding Items Relied On For Safety (IROFS) for equipment and able to execute Function Test Instructions (FTIs) to ensure operabilityMaintain, review, update and create area operating procedures (OPs), temporary operating procedures (TOPs), job hazards analyses (JHA) and chemical job hazards analyses (CJHA)Ensure compliance with all safety and quality regulations and metrics through use of compliance calendars, databases and tracking systemsIdentify and implement proactive solutions for incremental and game changing process improvements related to safety, quality and output through use of Lean and Six Sigma toolsSupport New Product Introduction (NPI) initiatives in the fuel production areas, including process developmentTrain hourly operators in sound techniques and proper operation of equipment to meet safety, quality and output targetsNurture team member involvement, ownership, continuous training and boundaryless behavior to meet internal and external customer requirements

Required Qualifications

Bachelor of Science Degree in an Engineering Discipline and at least 3 years of HVAC engineering work experienceOR a 2-year technical degree and at least 10 years of HVAC engineering work experience

Eligibility Requirements:

For Controlled Access Area: must be able to successfully pass a Nuclear Safety Training Test; follow strict radiation protection, criticality, and industrial safety regulations; wear protective clothing to enter the area.Ability to walk up and down stairs. Must be 18 years or older and have legal authorization to work in the United States.

The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus.
