By living the Amtrak values, focusing on our capabilities, and actively embracing and fostering diverse ideas, backgrounds, and perspectives, together we will honor our past and make Amtrak a company of the future.   SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The Lead Financial Analyst is a member of the Financial Planning team within Amtrak FP&A and is responsible for enterprise-wide financial analysis supporting Amtrak’s financial decisions.  Responsibilities include extensive coordination with Finance business partners as well as Executive/Senior Leadership Teams (ELT/SLT) and their staff to participate in the development of financial forecasts, annual plans, execution of special projects and assignments, etc.  Major undertakings will include managing monthly forecast, annual plan, variance analysis, data analytics, ad-hoc financial analysis, among others.       ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: •  Support periodic forecasting, annual planning and 5 Year planning cycle for Opex and Capex. •  Extract, review and analyze operating and financial data from various Amtrak data systems.  •  Create forecast methodologies and create forecasts for planning purposes. •  Support and facilitate the preparation and distribution of Amtrak operating statistics as part of the periodic forecasting cycle.   •  Prepare various ad-hoc financial analyses that support leadership within Financial Planning, ELT, and others.  • Translate outputs of financial analysis into meaningful insights for executive level management, the Board, congress, FRA and any other pertinent constituent. •  Prepare reporting packages for ELT/SLT and the FRA, evaluate reporting needs of the stakeholders and modify existing/create new reports to meet stakeholder reporting requirements. • Create data visualization tools and reports using Tableau. • Streamline existing data systems and reporting processes across FP&A. • Contribute to training and knowledge-sharing with junior analysts.  •  Other finance related analyses and as requested by the ELT and SLT.     MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: • Must possess a bachelor’s degree in business, economics, accounting, finance or business-related field, or an equivalent combination of education, work experience and training. • 6-8 years demonstrated professional experience in financial analysis/quantitative functions.  •  Proven ability to effectively interface with individuals at various levels within and outside of the organization to exchange information, work cooperatively, facilitate understanding and persuade and influence others. •  Experience effectively communicating financial concepts to financial and non-financial audiences. •  Strong, demonstrated skill and experience in spreadsheet data modeling and high proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.  •  Familiarity with financial and economic data sources and ability to conduct literature reviews and research independently with minimal supervision. •  Strong aptitude and proficiency in compiling, analyzing, interpreting and reporting large amounts of quantitative data for business use and action     PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Experience in the transportation industry  • Proven business analytics acumen and experience using data visualization tools such as Tableau or PowerBI   COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.   PAY TRANSPARENCY: The salary/hourly range is $84,300-$122,256. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, internal equity, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position and/or long-term incentive plan compensation.
