Lead Fire Protection - NICET III

**Purpose and Scope:**
Provide supervision for fire protection services to include emergency fire protection and routine fire protection inspections. This position is in support of the Air Force Contract Augmentation Program (AFCAP) and is located at Ascension Island Auxiliary Airfield (AAAF).
**Essential Responsibilities:**
+ Inspect, test, maintain, and replace fire detection systems IAW the latest edition of the UFC-3-601-02.
+ Inspect and test on kitchen hood fire suppression systems and ducts and attach service tags IAW NFPA 96 and UFC 3-601-02.
+ Respond to all fire alarm detection and suppression system impairments.
+ Participate in preliminary and final acceptance testing for all fire detection and suppression systems.
+ Submit written reports of all fire alarm and suppression system problems, repairs, and test results.
+ Analyze each false fire detection alarm and determine the root cause.
+ Perform cross-connection inspections and prevent backflow of all water-based fire protection systems, equipment, and related structures in the cross-connection control program.
+ Supervise the inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire protection systems IAW the latest edition of the UFC-3-601-02.
+ Supervise the inspection, testing, cleaning, and performing of preventive and corrective maintenance on kitchen hood fire suppression systems and ducts and attach service tags IAW NFPA 96 and UFC 3-601-02.
+ Submit a report of all hood and duct exhaust system tests, inspections, and maintenance accomplished.
**Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:**
+ Must be NICET Level III certified.
+ Minimum of five (5) years’ experience at that duty position.
+ Ability to exercise discretion and make effective decisions.
+ Solid communications skills, strong interpersonal skills.
+ Strong ability to work and lead as a member of a diverse, dynamic team.
+ Outstanding problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
+ Possess a valid state issued driver’s license and passport.
+ Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.
+ Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment.
+ Prior overseas government contracting experience preferred.
**Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:**
+ This position will be exposed to products of fire to include heat, smoke, toxic fumes, and gasses.
+ Basic physical requirements include walking, bending, stooping, stretching, climbing, running, and lifting to 100 pounds.
+ Must be able to perform job tasks at any place on the Aerial Ladder from minimal extension to full extension.
+ Living and working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable.
+ Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
+ Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions.
+ Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
