Overview

The Fitness Lead is responsible for maintaining all fitness operations and producing and directing programs and special events for members and hotel guests. He/she is also responsible for supervising all health club personnel to ensure quality health and fitness services to members and guests.

Responsibilities

Fundamental Requirements:

 

· Employees must at all times be attentive, friendly, helpful and courteous to all guests, managers and fellow employees.

· Plan, coordinate, supervise and direct special events and programs for members and corporate games for hotel guests.

· Conduct fitness testing and complimentary orientation workout and exercise prescription upon member and hotel guest request.

· Ensure the cleanliness of the fitness areas and necessary maintenance of fitness equipment.

· Supervise all group activities (aerobic classes, etc.).

· Schedule health club employees according to business demands and Highgate Hotel guidelines.

· Assist in monitoring and evaluating health club employee performance.

· Maintain inventory for professional services while controlling cost and avoiding excess product usage.

· Provide instruction on equipment use as needed.

· Train health club employees as necessary.

· Assist with sales and marketing to promote health club sales.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

· High School diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or a related field required.

· At least six years progressive experience in a related field; and/or a 4-year college degree and/or 4 years experience and continuing education units; and/or field certification required.

· Previous supervisory responsibility preferred.

 

 

Physical requirements:

· Flexible and long hours sometimes required.

· Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

· Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings.

· Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.

· Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which includes wearing the proper uniform and nametag.

· Comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.

· Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.

· Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.

General Requirements (Continued):

 

· Must be able to understand and apply complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.

· Must be able to cross-train in other hotel related areas.

· Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.

· Must be able to show initiative, including anticipating guest or operational needs.

· Perform other duties as requested by management.

· Maintain a friendly and warm demeanor at all times.

· Hygiene is key in this environment due to the close proximity of working with the clients. At no time is cigarette smoke allowed to be on the hands, clothes or breath of a spa employee during a shift.
