Job Description

The Lead Technician will be responsible for the qualification, testing, blending, and troubleshooting of silica polymer materials in our Silica Manufacturing team. This role will focus on ensuring material performance through small-scale blending to identify optimal ratios, calculating yields to improve efficiency, and troubleshooting both material and equipment issues. Additionally, the technician will work on improving the packaging column solutions.

•Perform test builds to achieve optimal silica polymer blending rations and conduct calculations to resolve impact of blending on overall yield and production efficiency.•Conduct testing of resin polymers using mechanical, thermal, and chemical analysis to evaluate material properties and performance.•Diagnose and resolve material performance issues, as well as equipment malfunctions. Work with multi-functional teams to implement corrective actions and long-term solutions.•Work on optimizing packaging column solutions and ensure equipment is running efficiently.•Partner with R&D, Quality, Engineering, and Production teams to troubleshoot and introduce new resin silica materials, ensuring detailed integration into existing production lines.•Maintain accurate records of blending trials, material testing, and troubleshooting activities. Prepare reports detailing finding, corrective actions, and performance improvements.•Provide leadership and guidance to junior technicians, ensuring proper training of techniques, procedures, and consistency to standard methodologies. Supervise work quality and productivity in the work center.•Trains personnel on Manufacturing and Facilities equipment setup, operation and maintenance.•Coordinates with Facilities team & Engineering to maintain operability and maintenance of Manufacturing equipment and facilities.Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:•Good oral and written communication skills are required to communicate work status and problems. •Effectiveness in this role requires a functional knowledge of applicable Thermo Fisher manufacturing process and Standard Operating Procedures and the ability to consistently and accurately follow procedures. •The job encounters semi-routine work situations of limited scope and complexity where ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice is required. •Accuracy is required in performing all functions of this position; errors in work could cause delays in schedules. •Familiarity working with standard software programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel.•Facilitating technician training for processes and troubleshooting.•Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a proactive approach to solving equipment and material- related challenges.•Knowledge of manufacturing and testing software Chromeleon and data collection systems.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in California is $29.43–$44.14.
