STS Technical Services is hiring an experienced Lead GSE Technician to join our team in Melbourne, Florida. In this role, you will perform routine preventive maintenance on ground support equipment (GSE), ensuring that machines run efficiently and effectively. You will also be responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing equipment malfunctions.
Key Responsibilities: Perform preventive maintenance tasks, including inspecting electrical connections, wiring, relays, and batteries, following wiring diagrams. Operate and test machinery to diagnose malfunctions, record maintenance work, and document repair costs. Conduct regular inspections of drives, motors, belts, and fluid levels; replace filters and complete maintenance tasks according to checklists. Use cleaning equipment, solvents, and tools to maintain machinery and ensure proper operation. Disassemble defective equipment for repair and install new or replacement parts. Diagnose mechanical issues, utilizing repair manuals and parts catalogs. Maintain inventory and requisition necessary machine parts and supplies. Ensure equipment is safe and compliant with regulatory standards. Perform maintenance on special equipment components, ensuring all accessories are up to date. Qualifications & Skills: Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Experience: At least 5-7 years of advanced technician experience in a similar role, with advanced skills in GSE maintenance. Technical Skills: Proficiency with hand tools and pneumatic tools, strong problem-solving skills, and a high level of technical aptitude in plant production equipment maintenance. Self-Starter: Able to work independently, take direction, and maintain equipment efficiently. Working Conditions: Must adhere to all safety regulations, including OSHA and EPA standards. Ability to wear a respirator when required, per OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134. Flexibility to work various shifts and hours as needed.
