Lead I - Software Engineering (Web UI)

Role Proficiency:

Act creatively to develop applications and select appropriate technical options optimizing application development maintenance and performance by employing design patterns and reusing proven solutions account for others' developmental activities

Outcomes:

We are creating a monorepo for use ; a place for code to be kept, shared, maintained and deployed from. Consolidating means that maintenance of the code within the repo will be managed centrally to avoid individual teams/departments having to run tasks like hygiene and upgrades, allows for “golden path” deployments and fungibility of developers between projects that span the entire super department. These hires will form part of that central team. By comparison similar endeavours in such as codetree and the ops-tech monorepo also have centralised management teams of ~10 people and ~4 people respectively. Primary Tech Stack – Web UI Frameworks – Angular/React Language - HTML5/Javascript/Typescript We are looking for a DevOps engineer/architect to form/join a new architecture group for the ESTAR super department. This new function will be responsible for architecting,developing and enhancing a monorepo for UI based web projects spanning the entire ESTAR.we will be targeting the latest architectures and practices to ensure that the 100s of departmental developers have the best development experience that can be offered fromwriting code, right way into production. What will you be doing? -Implementing with the latest UI monorepo architectures and best practices. -Designing and implementing automation wherever possible to streamline the developer experience.( ex: automated releases, automated hygiene upgrades,..) -Ensuring consistency across the monorepo through educating developers on how to work in a monorepo and use the provided functionality. -Working with developers across the super department to assist in migration to the monorepo. -Providing expertise to developers across the globe in web technologies. -Form part of the monorepo working group to help decide the strategic direction for the super department via the technology choices. What we are looking for? -Expert in a variety of web technologies (ex:Angular,React,…) and desire to learn new ones. - Knowledge of variety of UI testing frameworks(and their setup) -Strong understanding of working with and optimizing CI/CD pipelines. -Excellent communication, Teamwork and interpersonal skills. -Strong troubleshooting abilities. Skills that will help you in the role: -Experience with Github,CoPilot and SourceGraph. -Experience with Observability stacks (ex:Prometheu/Grafana) -Experience with NX framework. -Experience with Jenkins. -Always learning and using a variety of new technologies. -Keep up to date with the latest libraries and architectural practices. -Knowledge of backend infrastructure( in Java/Python) desirable.
