Lead Insulator 1 Summary **Title:** Lead Insulator 1 **ID:** 2955524 **Location:** Clute, TX **Job Function :** Craft Labor Description Job Title: Lead Insulator (I1) Department: Job Site Reports To: Foreman FLSA Status: Non-Exempt This job description covers the job of the Lead Insulator. It provides general description of the types of elements required on the job but not all possible physical demands. It does not cover all objects to be handled or activity that may be on the job. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES A LEAD INSULATOR falls into the medium physical demand category and will report directly to the Foreman. 1. Provides leadership, instruction and guidance to craft workers in work crew 2. Provides assistance to Foreman 3. Displays a positive attitude towards Safety, Quality, Policy and Procedures. 4. Has the knowledge of and exercises all of OSHA, Brand and Customer policies at job site. 5. Complete a qualified Job Safety Plan identifying the hazards and risks and implement necessary controls. 6. Select and use proper PPE as identified on the JSP. 7. Demonstrate proper site preparation prior to scaffold erection, modification or dismantling. (housekeeping, etc) 8. Must be able to read and interpret blue prints, instructions, and other documentation for planning work activities 9. Apply brush and spray adhesives or attach metal adhesive backed pins to surfaces as necessary to facilitate application of insulation material. 10. Select and ensure that insulation materials comply with the project specifications. 11. Ability to execute and mentor the field fabrication, fit up, and application of all insulation materials that make up the complete installation. 12. Comprehend and execute the proper use of insulation materials, tools, attachments, and the quality of installation. 13. Insures that installation of insulation and weatherproofing components are correctly installed per the scope of work and to specification. 14. Safely Utilize scaffold, portable lift devices, and fall protection to work above ground level. 15. Loads, transports, and unloads materials, tools, equipment, and supplies using proper lift technique. 16. Take the lead in lifting, positioning, and securing of materials and work pieces during installation or removal. 17. Insure that equipment and tools are being maintained properly and are ready and available for use. Do minor repair and maintenance. Report damages immediately. 18. Participate and mentor crew to lead tool box talks on Safety and Performance. 19. Monitor and recognize behavior and health changes in team members and communicate those to management. 20. Complete other duties as deemed necessary by Supervisor 21. Promote and Build Team attitude and complete other duties as required by Supervisor. EQUIPMENT USED TO PERFORM JOB 1. PPE (FRC free of holes, Hard Hat, Gloves, Safety Glasses, Safety Boots, respiratory protection, as required,.etc.) 2. Hand tools: Wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, and abrasives. 3. Battery Drill, Pin Welder, Hog Ring Gun w/air compressor, Metal Shear, Metal Roller, Pittsburgh Seamer and Beader/Crimper. 4. Other: Ladders, aerial lifts, scissor lifts and swing stage OTHER ASPECTS AND DEMANDS OF THE JOB NOT LISTED: The LEAD INSULATOR must be able to remove, prepare and apply insulating material(s) to exposed surfaces or structures, such as air ducts, hot or cold pipes, storage tanks, boilers and buildings. Other Lead Insulator duties may include: 1. Receiving and returning material. 2. Knowledge of quality control checks and inspections. 3. Knowledge of material handling techniques. 4. Perform general laborer duties which pertain to the insulation trade. 5. Supervise apprentices to ensure adherence to the applicable insulation procedures QUALIFICATIONS 1. High school diploma or GED, preferred 2. Bilingual Communication preferred 3. Driver requirements in accordance with Brand Vehicle Policy, if required 4. Must have 4 years of experience in the insulation craft 5. Must pass Brand’s skills assessment 6. Must be NCCER certified as an Industrial Insulator (INSUL19_01) 7. Must be willing to become a qualified Brand Mentor within 6 months from date of hire or complete the customer short service worker program. 8. Based on customer requirements, may be able to pass an extensive background check 9. Some computer skills may be required
