This position provides an opportunity for a motivated audit professional to make a strong contribution to Global Payments’ growing Internal Audit team in Europe. Audit Services is an integral and valued component of Global Payments’ risk management environment, and works closely with management to deliver value-added and challenging audit projects in the area of Business Operations, Information Technology, Finance & Accounting, and Regulatory Compliance. This role provides exposure to a diverse array of Business Operations, Regulatory Compliance, and Financial Accounting audit and advisory projects that require in-depth analysis and understanding of supporting business processes. Examples of audit projects include review of compliance with local and international regulations, Anti-Money Laundering/Bank Secrecy Act, Merchant Safeguarding, and financial controls reviews. The candidate should have experience performing a wide array of business audits. Candidates should also possess strong business understanding and be able to correlate risk in terms of impacts on supporting operations. The candidate should possess a desire to work in a very collaborative fashion.
The candidate will also demonstrate a capacity to learn and understand business processes and technology related to payment card processing. The preferred candidate will demonstrate an ability to think critically about the design and operating effectiveness of business processes and financial controls and understand how information technology impacts the design and operation of business operations.
This position provides the opportunity for exposure to senior leadership and organizational divisions. The Audit Services team focuses heavily on risk-based audits that help management identify and reduce organizational risk. These projects vary each year and provide a high degree of challenge and diversity. The team also performs advisory projects to support various new business needs.
Essential Responsibilities
Lead control walkthroughs to understand and document the full business process to adequately assess all risks.
Lead control testing for risk-based audits and support project team with all aspects of the audit lifecycle, including risk assessment, planning, client coordination, fieldwork, data analysis, workpaper documentation, reporting, and remediation validation, with direction from senior team members.
Determine audit objectives, identify key risks and controls, develop detailed audit programs, test controls, document results, and prepare audit work papers.
Willingness to learn and grow technical knowledge through team collaboration. Projects will include a strong focus on financial and operational controls in executing integrated, risk-based audits to evaluate the design and effectiveness of internal controls. The auditor will also focus on the integration of IT and business process risk considerations within the audit process.
Understand key business process risks, merchant Know Your Customer (KYC), authorization, settlement, vendor management, dispute management, data protection, and AML.
Evaluate root cause factors for audit testing exceptions and recommend practical solutions that reduce risk and strengthen business processes and controls.
Build and develop Internal Audit’s brand within the company through meaningful relationship building.
Enable continuous improvement of the Internal Audit department by identifying and communicating enhancement opportunities to department leadership.
Support the development of other team members within the Internal Audit department.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Audit and/or consulting experience is recommended in the following areas:
Merchant Acquiring/Payment Processing experience, including underwriting, onboarding, risk management, chargebacks and back office processes.
Integration of business process controls with supporting technologies. Business process workflow documentation, including identification of key risks and the corresponding business and technology controls.
Financial reporting and general accounting requirements, including balance sheets, income statements, and statements of cash flow
Capability to work in a complex and evolving environment while designing flexible and adaptive audit plans
Strong project management and execution skills, including: prioritizing tasks, balancing workloads, anticipating next steps, and adapting to change.
Ability to tailor project approaches based on areas of key risks and critically evaluate audit procedures to maximize the value of each audit project.
Strong communication and presentation skills with an ability to tailor communications to different audiences.
Pursue work with enthusiasm, energy, drive and team collaboration.
Establish and build effective relationships.
Collaborate with management and senior leadership to improve internal controls and processes.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Auditing Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or a related field.
3-5 years of relevant audit and/or risk management experience
Merchant Acquiring / Payment Processing, Card Issuance, and Private-label Consumer Solutions industry experience preferred.
CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CIA (Certified Internal Auditor), CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor), CAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist), CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner), AAP (Accredited ACH Professional), or other relevant certifications are preferred
Big Four audit or internal audit experience preferred.
5-10% travel requirement
