About the Position: Lead Inventory Management Specialist (Demand Planner) located within the SUPPLY CHAIN INTEGRATION DIR OPERATIONS DIV DEMAND PLANNING BRANCH. Multiple vacancies maybe filled using this announcement. Responsibilities Execute a demand planning program for a complex portfolio of weapons systems and/or component piece parts. Evaluate and synthesizes analysis, to resolve difficult demand planning issues involving processes, work methods, supply data management, and day-to-day operational procedures. Support development and implementation of outcome-based demand support strategies, that optimize supply chain management principles to enhance system readiness and life cycle cost affordability. Apply strong analytical and quantitative methods to mitigate supply chain risk. Support supply chain management integration to optimize repair parts for system suitability, affordability, reliability, availability, and maintainability. Provide demand planning, forecasting program, and process interpretations and recommendations to management officials and other supply specialists at the same and lower levels of the organization. Monitor status and effectiveness of material support provided. Identify unplanned demands/returns received and use adjustments to address them in the demand plan. Coordinate with various stakeholders, weapon system team and the systems analysts, to maintain complete and correct demand material master coding. Lead a team of demand planners, assign work, provides technical advice and guidance, reviews work, evaluate quality, and provides training to team members. Execute the demand planning module, provides direct support to the supply planner regarding validation and correction of independent demand, returns and FMS customer forecasts. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Performing a full range of Demand Planning, to include determination, validation, and verification of all requirements; 2) Analyzing forecast requirements of all required secondary items to support the customer as required at the lowest total life cycle cost; and 3) Formulating a forecasting strategy, to review its effectiveness and develop recommendations to specific problems in order to improve efficiency. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Forecasting and Demand Planning Problem Solving Technical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
