Lead Maintenance Technician

**Position Summary:**
Under minimal supervision, the Maintenance Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing maintenance operations across multiple facilities on the Schwarzes Industries campus. This includes overseeing the upkeep and repair of fabrication equipment, assembly lines, and facility infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, safety, and compliance with company standards.
**Essential Functions of the Job:**
+ Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for fabrication equipment including laser cutters, press brakes, forklifts, and other production machinery.
+ Lead and manage the maintenance team to ensure a timely response to equipment breakdowns and facility repair needs.
+ Coordinate and supervise repairs and maintenance of all campus facilities, including fabrication shops, assembly lines, offices, restrooms, and common areas.
+ Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment service logs, and facility inspections.
+ Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and Safety teams to minimize downtime and support continuous improvement initiatives.
+ Manage vendor relationships and oversee external contractors for specialized maintenance and repair services.
+ Ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards related to equipment safety and facility maintenance.
+ Monitor and manage maintenance budgets, including procurement of parts, tools, and supplies.
+ Conduct regular inspections of equipment and facilities to identify and address potential issues proactively.
+ Support capital improvement projects and facility upgrades as needed.
+ Provide daily/bi-daily status updates on equipment and verification that all task prerequisites have been met and task are on track to eta's provided.
+ May assist other departments as needed.
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s):**
Good mechanical aptitude.
Good mechanical ability/aptitude. Basic math skills and computer data entry skills.
General knowledge and familiarity with all machines and machine shop equipment including shop tools, forklifts, cranes, welding machines, hoist, and air compressor.
Knowledge of electrical equipment and repairs, plumbing, welding, basic HVAC, and pneumatics.
Problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
Good communication skills, both verbal and written. Able to read and interpret operation and parts manuals.
Ability to operate forklift, man lift and overhead crane.
Able to climb stairs/ladders up to 25 feet. Able to work indoors/outdoors.
Able to work overtime and/or weekends as scheduled.
Able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including steel toe shoes, hearing protection devices and safety glasses.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED certificate preferred.
Minimum five (5) years’ experience in related field.
Working Conditions: Must be physically capable of lifting 51 lbs., on a regular basis for 8-10 hour shift(s.) Continuous standing.
