How will you make a difference?
As a member of the Global Operations Equipment group, Lead Manufacturing Specialist – Fabrication & Truck Assembly demonstrates solid understanding of manufacturing processes and the use of hand & inspection tooling. Specifically, as it relates to fabrication, weld technology, and associated assembly processes for the locomotive trucks and sub-systems.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Fluent in speaking, reading, and writing in the English language.Minimum technical degree or equivalent manufacturing experience.Minimum 2 years working with manufacturing assembly, fabrication, quality, or specific locomotive assembly processes. Strong background in the interpretation of engineering drawings/specifications.Excellent people skills with the ability to work closely with diverse team members.Strong computer skills and ability to use Teams/Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint, etc.Self-directed, highly meticulous, organized, and flexible to support the team.Able to use various mechanical/electrical hand tools for assembly operations as well as inspection equipment that are required for manufacturing operations.Position is primarily based in Erie, PA. (other global locations may be considered)Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required. Travel is typically 10-20% of the year but could be as much as 50% in support of multiple programs.This position is an onsite role.
Desired Characteristics:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical EngineeringAbility to communicate utilizing a second language; Spanish, Russian, Turkish, etc.Locomotive assembly experience and the ability to learn operations for continued growthStrong project management skillsStrong oral and written communication skills
What will your typical day look like?
Capable of understanding the product drawings/documentation and relay this information to the customer/partner in order to meet fabrication and assembly requirements per the contract.Position includes but not limited to the following: Product DrawingsManufacturing Instructions and StandardsTechnical SpecificationsDocuments and Standards of Quality ControlTooling/Fixturing Drawings and TechniquesCollaborate closely with global personnel and the capability to understand the manufacturing processes involved in the fabrication of various structures as well as truck assembly.Create training documents and educate/train the customer/partner’s personnel on the technical service required in various domestic & global locations to meet contractual requirements.Accountable for meeting the quality standards required for successful engineering verification of the manufacturing processes.What about the physical demands of the job?
