Scope of Position
Leads daily warehouse activities such as material handling, inventory movement, shipping, and receiving. It helps keep warehouse areas clean, organized, and running efficiently. The role also serves as the backup box truck driver, responsible for picking up and delivering parts and materials as needed. The Lead Material Handler works closely with production and logistics teams to ensure smooth material flow and completes required paperwork such as packing slips, transfer forms, and checklists.Minimum Qualifications
Minimum age 21 years.Valid Indiana Chauffeur’s Driver’s License and current DOT Medical Certification.Must pass a pre-offer Driver Road Test Certification conducted by MPT Muncie.1–2 years of warehouse/material handling experience in a manufacturing environment.Valid forklift certification or ability to obtain.1–2 years of box truck driving experience preferred.Clean driving record with no major violations in the past 3 years.Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., bend, climb, and stand for extended periods.Strong attention to detail in paperwork, load verification, and inventory tracking.Familiarity with basic vehicle safety, DOT compliance, and safe driving practices.Comfortable working independently and taking initiative when needed.Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and support warehouse team in shipping, receiving, inventory, and staging activities.Provide break and shift coverage for the material handling crew.Assist in organizing and improving dock and warehouse efficiency.Ensure accurate transactions in SAP and through RF scanners.Maintain FIFO (First-In, First-Out) inventory practices and purge obsolete materials appropriately.Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely.Keep warehouse, crib, and storage areas clean, organized, and “tour-ready.”Verify shipment accuracy and support coordination with carriers for inbound and outbound loads.Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and company safety, quality, and housekeeping standards.Participate in safety talks, quality meetings, and continuous improvement initiatives.Work collaboratively with production and scheduling teams to ensure timely material flow and availability.Safely operate a company-owned box truck (typically 26 ft. or under) to transport automotive parts and materials, when required.Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with DOT regulations, when required.Load and unload cargo using approved equipment (e.g., pallet jacks), ensuring loads are secure and protected, when required.Verify counts and condition of materials during pickup and delivery; complete all related paperwork accurately, when required.Awareness, Unity, Empowerment:At Magna, we believe that a diverse workforce is critical to our success.
