Lead - Mechanic

A family-owned wood products manufacturer that has been in business 70 years is looking for a Lead Mechanic to add to their tight knit team. With over 250 employees, they heavily believe in sustainable forestry, continuous improvement, and respect for people.  Located in beautiful Northeastern Washington, it brings a charming small town feel and is a gateway to incredible recreation opportunities such as camping, fishing, hunting, boating, and lots of trails for UTV, snowmobiling, biking etc. It is a true four seasons destination.

The primary role of the Mechanic Lead position is to lead and supervise the maintenance of all rolling stock with a continued focus on safety, and productivity. The desirable applicant will have a mindset of constant improvement and willingness to go above and beyond.

Essential Functions and Duties: Conducts machine setup, troubleshooting, cleaning, repairs and preventive maintenance service Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service Prepares and sets up machinery for scheduled production runs Performs mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of production machines Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform maintenance and service Performs mandatory pre-shift checklists and daily maintenance records Promote Safety to the team members and be an example of taking the lead in putting safety 1st Assist in training and mentoring employees Build sustainable communication bridges between departments for quality, production changes, and inventory plans Entry level laborer sawmill duties, including but not limited to, stacking boards, general cleanup, removal of wood waste and debris, and tending machines Maintain a clean and safe work area and ensure tools, supplies, and equipment are always put away  
Qualifications: Supervisory experience in the production industry is a plus Ability to create quality and cost analysis Problem solving and technical troubleshooting skills Strong computer, communication, planning, and organization skills Ensure safe work practices & follow safety procedures Ability to streamline processes and cut waste within area of responsibility High School Diploma or equivalent Must be able to stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, and reach above shoulders safely and lift up to 50 lbs Ability to pass background and drug screenings
