Job Description
This position is a Lead Mechanical Designer role, responsible for day-to-day production readiness and continuous improvement. This includes managing the Production Readiness Team to accomplish the timely completion of daily tasks such as drafting, proofing, blanking, documentation, and assembly. Additionally, continuous improvement of day-to-day readiness requires the consistent application delivery. You will be leading and organizing a small team, as well as prioritizing projects.
ResponsibilitiesManage the Production Readiness Team to ensure timely completion of daily tasks.Oversee drafting, proofing, blanking, documentation, and assembly processes.Lead and organize a small team to prioritize projects.Apply the Unity Concepts of Velocity for continuous improvement.Evaluate employee performance and assess skill levels.Optimize designs for efficient manufacturing in collaboration with manufacturing personnel.Essential SkillsStrong proficiency using the SolidWorks Sheet Metal module.Mechanical design experience in a relatable industry.Experience designing sheet metal for manufacturing.Supervisory experience including leading, organizing, prioritizing projects, and conducting employee evaluations.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience designing electrical enclosures is a plus.Experience with nesting, laser, and press brake machines is advantageous.Work Environment
The work environment consists of both office and manufacturing plant settings, with a typical schedule of Monday to Friday daytime hours, ranging from 40-50 hours per week depending on workload. You will spend approximately 70% of your time in the office and 30% on the manufacturing floor. The company is an independent producer of electrical enclosures focused on continuous improvement, utilizing modern manufacturing equipment and the latest version of SolidWorks with the sheet metal module.
