Mitsubishi Chemical America, Inc. SoarnoL division is located in La Porte, Texas, and specializes in SoarnoL Ethylene Vinyl Alcohol Copolymer (EVOH). Additional manufacturing facilities for SoarnoL are located in Japan and the United Kingdom.
Noltex was formed in June of 1994 and purchased an idled Du Pont EVOH manufacturing facility in La Porte. Noltex began production of SoarnoL resin in early 1996 after retrofitting the first of our plant’s production lines.
Our plant primarily serves the needs of the North and South American markets, and supplements product needs in Oceania, Asia, and Europe. With a total annual production capacity of 38,000 metric tons, our EVOH product line includes a wide variety of specialty SoarnoL grades in order to better meet the increased demand for this unique gas barrier resin.

We are currently seeking a highly experienced and motivated Lead Mechanical Engineer with over 20 years of expertise in mechanical engineering and project management to join our team.
Principal Accountabilities
**Position Overview:**
Support the Soarnol EVOH business success as a member of the Engineering Department at the LaPorte, Texas facility. As a Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will play a critical role in overseeing and leading mechanical engineering design, development, and implementation for various projects. You will apply your extensive experience to manage teams, collaborate with cross-functional departments, and ensure the successful execution of complex engineering projects from concept to completion. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, leadership, and project management skills to guide projects effectively while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Lead mechanical engineering projects from conception through to delivery, ensuring timely completion within budget and scope.
+ Manage, mentor, and develop a team of engineers and technicians to achieve project goals and foster professional growth.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams (electrical, civil, software, etc.) to integrate mechanical solutions with other engineering disciplines.
+ Develop and review mechanical designs, drawings, and specifications to meet performance, reliability, and regulatory requirements.
+ Oversee and ensure compliance with industry standards, safety protocols, and quality control procedures.
+ Act as the primary point of contact for vendors, and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
+ Develop and manage project budgets, timelines, and resource allocations to ensure successful project outcomes.
+ Identify and mitigate risks associated with project execution, ensuring issues are addressed proactively.
+ Conduct regular project reviews and status meetings to track progress and adjust plans as needed.
+ Contribute to process improvements and innovation in mechanical engineering practices within the organization.
+ Support innovative technology development activities and contribute to proposals and technical documentation as required.
Knowledge / Skills / Experience
+ Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
+ A minimum of 20 years of experience in mechanical engineering with a strong background in project management.
+ Proven track record of leading small to mid-scale mechanical engineering projects, from concept through to successful implementation.
+ Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification preferred.
+ Project Management Profession (PMP) certification is preferred.
+ Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide engineering teams.
+ In-depth knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials, manufacturing processes, and industry best practices.
+ Strong proficiency with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and other engineering tools is a plus.
+ Demonstrated experience in managing project budgets, timelines, and resources.
+ Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and troubleshooting abilities.
+ Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
+ Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

+ **The salary range for this position is $135,000 - $150,000. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary will be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.**
