Job Title: Lead Mechanical Engineer
Location: Thailand
Reports To: Project Manager
Job Summary:
We are seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to oversee the mechanical design, specification, and execution of equipment for our production facilities in Thailand. The ideal candidate will have expertise in rotating equipment such as pumps, blowers, compressors, and turbo expanders. If the candidate also has knowledge of static equipment (e.g., pressure vessels, heat exchangers, tanks, piping supports), that would be an advantage.
The Lead Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for ensuring optimal equipment selection, performance, reliability, and compliance with international and Thai standards while working closely with multidisciplinary teams, vendors, and contractors.
Key Responsibilities:
Mechanical Engineering & Equipment Selection:
• Lead the mechanical design, specification, and procurement of rotating and static equipment.
• First priority is rotating equipment, including:
o Pumps (centrifugal, positive displacement, cryogenic, etc.)
o Blowers and fans o Compressors (centrifugal, reciprocating, screw, etc.)
o Turbo expanders
• If the candidate has static equipment knowledge, they will also support:
o Pressure vessels, heat exchangers, tanks, and process piping supports
• Ensure all equipment meets operational reliability, efficiency, and maintainability requirements.
Engineering Design & Compliance:
• Develop and review technical specifications, datasheets, and material selection for mechanical equipment.
• Ensure compliance with international standards (API, ASME, ANSI, ISO) and Thai regulatory requirements.
• Perform rotating equipment sizing, selection, and performance evaluations, including vibration analysis, mechanical integrity, and operational performance checks.
• Work closely with instrumentation and control engineers to ensure proper integration of rotating equipment.
Liaison & Coordination:
• Work with process engineers to define mechanical requirements and system interfaces.
• Coordinate with civil/structural engineers to ensure equipment foundation design meets loading and dynamic vibration criteria.
• Interface with vendors, OEMs, and contractors for technical clarifications, inspections, and testing.
• Engage with government agencies to ensure compliance with import regulations, safety standards, and environmental guidelines.
Project Execution & Site Support:
• Oversee equipment installation, alignment, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
• Conduct performance testing and acceptance checks for rotating and static equipment.
• Provide technical support during construction, startup, and operations phases.
• Lead failure analysis, root cause investigations, and performance improvements for mechanical systems.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 15+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, equipment selection, and commissioning in oil & gas, petrochemical, or industrial projects.
•Strong expertise in rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, blowers, turbo expanders).
• Knowledge of static equipment (pressure vessels, heat exchangers, tanks) is a plus.
• Familiarity with international standards (API 610, API 617, API 618, ASME, ISO 5199, ANSI, etc.).
• Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams, vendors, and contractors.
• Familiarity with Thai regulatory requirements for mechanical equipment.
Key Competencies:
• Strong leadership skills to guide and mentor mechanical engineers.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities for equipment selection and troubleshooting.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to liaise with cross-functional teams.
• High attention to detail, ensuring safety, reliability, and operational efficiency
