Job Description

The Lead Medical Assistant for the Women's Pelvic Restorative Center is responsible for providing high-quality, patient-centered care while effectively managing resources and maintaining professional relationships with physicians and staff. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of non-judgmental care and the ability to address the psychological and emotional needs of patients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

          Patient Care Management:

Conduct thorough patient intake, including accurate documentation of symptoms, medications, and vital signsAssist physicians, residents, and fellows with examinations and proceduresAdminister injections and provide patient education on self-administration when necessaryRecognize and respond appropriately to urgent or emergency situationsMaintain strict patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations

          Surgical Coordination:

Schedule surgical procedures with precision and attention to detailObtain necessary authorizations for surgical clearanceCoordinate pre- and post-operative care

          Clinical Operations:

Ensure proper maintenance and sterilization of medical equipment and suppliesImplement and follow infection control protocolsMaintain a safe and sanitary environment for patients and staff

           Administrative Responsibilities:

Manage patient records, including accurate charting and proper flow of medical documentationCoordinate with other departments for patient referrals and specialized careAssist in the orientation and training of new staff members

          Communication and Patient Education:

Provide comprehensive patient education on various health concerns, office procedures, and treatment plansConduct effective telephone triage, evaluating the urgency of patient needsMaintain clear and professional communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members

          Quality Assurance:

Adhere to organizational policies, regulations, and proceduresParticipate in continuous quality improvement initiativesStay informed about current trends and advancements in OB-GYN and infertility care

           Additional Duties:

Perform any additional tasks as assigned by the physician, Division Administrator, or Nurse Practitioner/Physician's AssistantDemonstrate flexibility in work assignments and willingness to adapt to changing priorities

This position requires a high level of professionalism, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stakes medical environment. The Lead Medical Assistant must consistently demonstrate sound judgment, discretion, and a commitment to excellence in patient care.

Qualifications

 

Minimum of 2 years experience as a Medical Assistant, with specific expertise in OB/GYN, is mandatory.

Comprehensive understanding of organizational policies, regulations, and procedures pertaining to patient care administration is required.

Proficiency in operating medical equipment and instruments for patient care is essential.

Thorough knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to maintain a secure work environment is crucial.

Demonstrated ability to identify problems and propose effective solutions is imperative.

Proven track record in establishing and maintaining professional relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public is necessary.

Strong commitment to maintaining quality control standards is required.

Demonstrated capacity to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations is vital.

Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures with precision is essential.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are mandatory.      

          Education and Certification Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) is the minimum educational requirement.

Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program is mandatory.

Current certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants is required.

Valid CPR certification is essential.

Physical Requirements:

The position demands a full range of body motion, including patient handling and lifting. Manual dexterity, finger dexterity, and hand-eye coordination are critical. Extended periods of standing and walking are required. The ability to occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds is necessary. Corrected vision and hearing within normal ranges are essential. The role involves working under stressful conditions and potentially irregular hours.

Compensation:

The salary range for this position is $23 to $25 per hour. Final compensation will be determined based on the candidate's educational background, years of relevant experience, and geographical location.
