Lead Medical Lab Technician (MLT) – Willard Hospital
Job Summary:
The Lead Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) is responsible for performing a full range of laboratory testing and providing physicians with quality results using a variety of clinical laboratory equipment. As a Lead Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) it is important to support the Technical Specialist in the performance of tasks that enhance the operations of the laboratory.
Essential Functions:
Performs the duties of a Medical Laboratory TechnicianAssists Technicians with the implementation of new procedures and policiesCollaborates with the Technicians in coordinating the proficiency testing program to ensure that all testing is registered, analyzed, and reviewed to meet established deadlinesRecommends system changes to increase efficiency and accuracy of workflow and ensure daily operational efficienciesCompletes schedules of department and updates time/schedule as necessary for daily operationsFulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the positionOther duties as assignedEducation:
Must have one of the following:Associates of Science in Medical Lab TechnologyCompleted 60 semester hours (including six hours of chemistry and six of biology) of academic credit from a college or university accredited by a recognized regional or national accreditation agency and have successfully completed a medical lab technician program by a nationally accredited agencyCompleted a 50-week U.S. military medical laboratory training course within the past ten yearsCertifications:
Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) or ASCP Certification requiredExperience:
4+ years of technical experience in a clinical laboratory setting (required)2 years leadership experience (preferred)Skills & Abilities:
