Will conduct a full range of tests from the most routine to the most complex with little or no supervision. Responsible for the operation of computers, precision instruments, and other complex electronic equipment. Responsible for equipment budget and quality assurance reports. Researches and develops new procedures. Order and prepare reagents, supplies and materials utilized in the department(s), supervise or delegate such responsibilities. Set up schedule of preventative maintenance for calibration and repairs of instrument and test equipment. Trouble-shoot equipment and procedures as needed to assure patient safety through effective accurate testing. Review and sign procedures in their areas of responsibility on the designated time frame from Lab Policy to ensure completeness and conformity with applicable standards, especially College of American Pathologists (CAP) requirements. Accepts Proficiency packages from CAP or designated manufacturer then assigns as appropriate to staff members for completion. Maintains records of such testing to conform to CAP standards as explained in custom checklist for the department Participation in all GPE initiatives from leadership down to Lab subcommittee GPE initiatives. Performs other related work as required or requested.

Required ExperienceEducation:
Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences or equivalent, required.
Licensure/Certification/Registry:
Registration as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP) or equivalent, required.
Experience:
3 – 5 years of experience as a medical laboratory scientist, required.
Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Working Conditions-Physical Requirements & Atmosphere:
Demonstrates leadership abilities. Demonstrates good communication skills. Potential for exposure to infectious agents and/or physical injury.
