**Description:**
The Clinical Subject Matter Expert functions as a key clinical resource in the family clinic, providing crisis intervention and related services to patients as directed by physicians and physician assistants. This role involves coordinating services with Mercy Behavioral Health psychiatric staff, accepting referrals from assigned clinics, and offering assessment, diagnosis, and therapy. The position also provides ongoing support and brief therapy, as well as psychiatric referrals when necessary.
**Essential Functions:**
+ **Supervision & Leadership** : Direct and supervise provisionally licensed clinicians and graduate-level students, ensuring they meet state and university objectives and milestones.
+ **Collaboration with Outpatient Therapy Team** : Foster a supportive culture within the therapy team, engaging in development and team-building activities.
+ **Psychiatry Resident Engagement** : Provide curriculum support and supervision for Psychiatry Residents, including weekly lectures and oversight of therapy patient care.
+ **Staffing & Operations** : Assist the department leader with daily staffing, team scheduling, and ensuring clinic coverage during all operational hours.
+ **Problem Resolution** : Investigate operational issues and recommend solutions to the department leader.
+ **Clinical Department Leadership** : Facilitate monthly clinical meetings, assist with recruitment, and mentor new hires, participating in orientation and staff development.
+ **Quality Assurance & Process Improvement** : Implement QA guidelines, process changes, and other duties as assigned to meet clinic goals.
+ **Clinical Consultation** : Provide leadership to clinical staff and act as a liaison between staff and department leader. Offer consultation to physicians and allied health professionals regarding patient evaluations, case management, and in-service educational presentations.
+ **Community Engagement** : Build and develop relationships with community health and social service agencies and cultivate connections with university programs to attract graduate students.
+ **Psychosocial Assessment & Treatment** : Conduct psychosocial assessments, develop individualized care plans, and provide psychosocial interventions to restore patients to optimal health and adjustment.
+ **Documentation & Reporting** : Maintain timely, accurate, and qualitative patient records and reports.
+ **Problem Solving & Program Development** : Demonstrate leadership in addressing clinical challenges and contributing to program improvements.
**Marginal Functions:**
+ Participate in relevant in-service training programs as required.
+ Contribute to departmental planning and service enhancement initiatives.
+ Serve as a consultant in areas of specialized experience.
+ Participate on committees as needed.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
**Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:**
+ Licensed in the state of Iowa as a Social Worker (LISW), Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Mental Health Counselor (LMHC).
+ Minimum of 3 years of post-graduate clinical experience, including 6 additional CEUs in supervision.
+ Master’s degree in a relevant field - Required
+ Proficiency in clinical interviewing techniques and familiarity with ethical and professional standards.
+ Completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training (within 3 months of hire).
+ Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding.
