About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking an OpenShift Container Platform Engineer (Lead Software Engineer). The OpenShift Container Platform Engineering team is responsible for delivery of enterprise class platforms and services to stakeholders across the firm, with a deliberate focus on enabling and delivering a cloud native strategy. Our mission is to deliver stable, secure, scalable, container-based technologies and innovative services at speeds that delight and satisfy our customers and unleash the skills potential of our customers. This role will provide technical knowledge around OpenShift/k8s platforms, environments, and emerging services to the Cloud PO / PaaS APO (US) with team members and partners to effectively partner with business stakeholders and drive the requirements gathering, strategy, roadmap, and backlog prioritization to deliver next generation hosting environments to our business partners.
This role is expected to be an engineer with platform experience supporting OpenShift Container Platform. Candidate should have experience in creating, delivering, and securing Kubernetes clusters at scale for large enterprise, financial services, or other large, regulated sectors. Aggressive modernization milestones and deliverables tied to the hosting strategy, cloud strategy, and modernization roadmap are tied to delivery. The Lead Software Engineer must adopt and support a culture of diversity, intellectual curiosity, problem solving and openness.
In this role, you will:
Support complex technology Cloud initiatives including those that are companywide with broad impactResolve coding, testing and escalated platform issues of a technically challenging natureEnsure systems are monitored to increase operational efficiency and managed to mitigate riskPartner with production support and platform engineering teams effectivelyMake decisions in developing standards and companywide best practices for engineering and large-scale technology solutions. Design, Optimization and Documentation of the Engineering aspects of the Cloud platformUnderstanding of industry best practices and new technologies, influencing and leading technology team to meet deliverables and drive new initiativesDefine opportunities to maximize resource utilization and improve processes while reducing costCollaborate and consult with key technical experts, senior technology team, and external industry groups to resolve complex technical issues and achieve goalsWork in a globally distributed team to provide innovative and robust Cloud centric solutionsMaintain system documentation and provide training and support to team members on OpenShift best practicesRequired Qualifications:
5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education5+ years working with OpenShift/Kubernetes and have a proven track record of building complex infrastructure programmatically through automation and scripting5+ years of experience in building, deploying, securing, and managing OpenShift or Kubernetes across various environments.5+ years of experience with Linux operating systems and container orchestration3+ of experience with infrastructure automation tools like Ansible, Terraform, or equivalent3+ years of experience with Agile, CI/CD, DevOps concepts, including tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, or Tekton3+ years of experience with monitoring, logging, observability tools (Splunk, Grafana, AppD, New Relic, Elastic, Open Telemetry)3+ years of experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid infrastructure setups3+ years driving architectural discussions and serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for high visibility cloud initiatives to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment, security, cost effectiveness and high availability in the private cloud space3 + years with Cloud methodologies (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), automation, orchestration, trends and industry-leading cloud vendor offeringsDesired Qualifications:
Experience working with cloud security management or governance tools.Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration (EX280) or similar certificationKnowledge of service mesh, load balancers, DDI technologiesKnowledge of networking, security, and storage concepts as they relate to containerized environmentsExcellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to articulate technical solutions to both technical and business audiencesAbility to deliver & engage with partners effectively in a multi-cultural environment by demonstrating co-ownership & accountability in a matrix structureDelivery focus and willingness to work in a fast-paced, enterprise environmentExperienced in implementing risk and control requirements for cloud infrastructureJob Expectations:
