Position Description
Primary Purpose:
Oversee and participate in the daily operations function of a bulk liquid drumming, storage, and handling terminal. Coordinate with customers and internal functional groups. Ensure timely receipt and shipment of customer’s products and inventory. Ensure efficient workflow of operations through the issue of field work orders to satisfy customer requirements. Perform all work in accordance with Company standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Position is responsible for assigning work and monitoring operators at a liquid terminal. The position will provide direct oversight of equipment and facilities for terminal operations.
• Direct and monitor daily work assignments, interpreting job orders from management, and assigning duties to employees.
• Organize and prioritize daily work and include long and short term projects into day to day execution.
• Actively participate in the process to achieve terminal objectives, keeping management apprised of related progress, strategies, and adjustments.
• Enforce established quality control standards, Kinder Morgan policies and terminal site specific procedures.
• Review processes to recognize and promote ideas that provide safer, more efficient cost effective operations, ensuring that operating costs are consistent within the established budget.
• Review production and operating reports and direct the resolution of operational and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
• Monitoring facility equipment and assist employees in general diagnostics of malfunctions in systems.
• Stay actively involved in the operational aspects of EHS, Human Resources and labor support.
• Support the instruction, development, and discipline of the terminal workforce in compliance with KM standards, including mentoring and leading that workforce.
• Effectively interface with customer representatives, regulatory personnel, KM staff (including office staff) and others as required.
• Be knowledgeable of and ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant facility operation. Perform tasks as directed by management and established procedures.
• Communicate sufficiently and professionally with all terminal employees to ensure appropriate individuals have the necessary information to meet the goals of the facility.
• Develop and implement processes and procedures to eliminate reoccurring daily operational issues including asset based and performance based issues.
• Actively participate and champion efforts of the SQE process.
• In conjunction with the continuous improvement process, personally conduct field and operational audits and MBWA to measure performance versus expectations. Identify gaps, root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Assist with and participate in the customer audit process, KM internal audit process.
• Perform all job duties in accordance with Federal, State, and Local Regulations
• Follow all Kinder Morgan Policies and Procedures
• Perform all job duties focusing on Good Manufacturing Practices
• Periodically inspect and audit production orders for accuracy and quality during and at completion of order.
• Periodically inspect equipment
• Periodically audit all aspects of the facility processes.
• Ability to back-fill key roles including but not limited to: Customer service, inventory control, quality control.
• Assure and advise operations on a clean and safe work environment to include but not limited to: proper storage of tools, hoses, and acid suits; cleanliness of work area; proper wear of all personal protective equipment; immediate containment and reporting of any spills or unsafe conditions.
• Maintain a positive and professional atmosphere for all employees and visitors.
• Manages the overall flow of inbound and outbound material movements.
• Manages processes to ensure the accuracy of customer and Kinder Morgan inventory at the terminal.
• Ensure that inventory management systems are accurately maintained
• Ensures compliance with SOX guidelines as prescribed by terminal management.
• Ensures that drumming, barge, truck, rail, production, and shipping orders from customers are efficiently disseminated to the terminal’s operations and fleet departments in a timely manner.
• Ensures daily schedules of operations are maintained and distributed.
• All other duties as assigned or requested by management.
Position Requirements
Education:
• High school diploma or GED required
Experience / Specific Knowledge:
• Minimum of three (3) years of related work experience in industrial or maintenance work.
• Must possess working knowledge of liquid operations.
Certifications / Licenses / Registrations:
• Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving record that meets company standards and its insurers.
• Ability to obtain TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) as issued by TSA (Transportation Security Administration).
• Successful completion and passing of pre-employment background check, drug screen and other related testing.
Competencies / Skills / Abilities:
• Must be able to effectively communicate, orally (face to face and by telephone) and in writing, in English with coworkers, contractors, government officials and Senior Management.
• Read and understand written material (in English), including use and understanding of basic numerical calculations.
• Ability to complete HAZ-MAT, DOT, Confined Space, and Lockout/Tagout training.
• Must be able to deal effectively with people and resolve conflicts and problems.
• Must possess management/supervisory skills and be able to effectively manage employees and contractors.
• Must possess well developed interpersonal skills to manage, lead, and direct personnel.
• Able to organize and prioritize multiple projects and make adjustments quickly as needed.
• Able to analyze financial and cost data and develop conclusions and recommendations.
• Ability to accept direction and work effectively & cooperatively with other people.
• Must have intermediate computer skills with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Power Point).
• Must possess strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with both company and contract employees.
• Must be goal orientated, self-motivated and able to work independently.
• Must have strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Physical Demands:
• Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Must be willing to work in protected areas at heights greater than six (6) feet above ground.
• Must be able to work over water (dock).
• Must be able to reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
• Must be able to hear and smell for deficiencies or hazards.
• Must be able to work in confined spaces (inside storage tanks).
• Must be able to pass a respiratory fit test.
• Must be able to perform tasks while wearing a full face respirator or supplied air.
• Overtime may be required and is anticipated.
Working Conditions:
• Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
• Maintain regular, dependable attendance and a high level of performance.
• Must be willing to work all shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed and required.
• Must be available to respond to call-out as assigned.
• Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisor, keep required work schedule, focus on attention to details, and follow work rules.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with fellow workers and demonstrate adherence to established safety policies and procedures.
• Must be able to withstand moderate noise levels.
