Use your advanced optical engineering skills to help Honeywell deliver innovative solutions across a variety of optical design opportunities. You will be empowered to think BIG and challenge yourself to understand more than just one aspect of the optical engineering discipline. You will work alongside some of the world's most talented engineers. You will apply research of complex optical systems to achieve desired optical specifications You will contribute to the development of Honeywell's state-of-the-art optical instruments for military, space, and commercial applications, including Earth observation, atmospheric monitoring, space situational awareness, space science, and optical communications.. You will take a lead role as part of a multidisciplined team, in designing, testing, and validating products from prototype to market. Examples of products include a broad spectrum of optical and opto-mechanical elements, ranging from mirrors, lenses, and mounts; critical subsystems such as fore optics and detector assemblies; and up to full instruments incorporating electronics and mechanisms.

\n\nBid and proposal evaluation and writing\nEstimating labor and timelines\nRequirements management and compliance evaluation\nOptical Simulation and Design\nOptical parts packaging and drawing development\nPerformance specification review and development\nCooperating with and interacting with external vendors\nCustomer site visits\nLeading technical proposals and managing proposal schedules and budgets\n\n

YOU MUST HAVE

\n\nBachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering, or mathematics\nMinimum 8 years of relevant design and test experience.\nGood written communication skills\nBusiness market requires that candidates must be eligible for TS/SCI clearance.\n\n

\n\nAbility to convey subtle or complex messages clearly, as appropriate for the topic and audience\nKnowledge of optical communications: modulation schemes, test methods, free-space optical communications, systems-level integration\nKnowledge of optical communications concept of operations (ConOps) and current SDA/ESTOL standards, able to deliver full solutions to customers\nExperience with US space and defense contractors\nExperience costing and writing proposals\nExperience evaluating RFP, RFI\nAbility to consistently make timely decisions even in the face of complexity, balancing systematic analysis with decisiveness\nExperience with complete engineering lifecycle (Design to volume production)\nOptical simulation experience (Zemax, Code-V, Light Tools, Trace Pro & other industry std. tools)\nParametric mechanical modeling experience (Pro-Engineer, CREO and Solidworks)\nExperience with Matlab\nIndividuals who are self-motivated and able to work with little supervision, who consistently take the initiative to get things done, and are willing to do things before being asked by others or forced to by events.\nAbility to lead a Project, including application of budgetary controls and reporting.
