LEAD PATIENT FINANCIAL COUNSELOR
40 hours, Mon - Fri 8AM - 4:30 PM, no weekends or holidays Statement of Purpose: Under the direction of the Manager of Patient Financial Services (PFS) and the Director of Financial Clearance, the Lead Financial Counselor (Certified Application Counselor) provides functional oversight to an assigned group of Financial Counselors for the process of providing health care coverage needs assessment with patients, community applicants, and family members. Works in conjunction with patients, clinical areas, case managers, insurance companies, and healthcare administration to ensure patients are financially cleared to have medical and surgical services. The Patient Financial Counselor has a direct impact on patients’ wellbeing by providing guidance and facilitating access to vital financial programs and services. They help to analyze a patient’s financial status and provide support on how the patient can cover their healthcare costs. Qualifications/ Experience: Education: Associates degree in Business, Social Services or three years’ experience in healthcare, accounts receivable or related function Certification / License: Certified Application Counselor (CAC) certification required. Completion of annual recertification and all mandatory ongoing training provided by the Massachusetts on-line Learning Management System required. Experience: 2-3 years’ prior experience in financial counseling preferred, Meditech experience a plus
