*POSITION SUMMARY*
The Lead Pharmacy Technician provides exceptional support to Family Pharmacy staff and outstanding service to customers. This is accomplished by training and mentoring pharmacy technicians, expertly performing all duties and tasks a pharmacy technician is responsible for, assisting pharmacists with medication preparation and distribution, and assisting and collaborating with the Pharmacy Tech Supervisor.
*PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITES *
1. Assists Pharmacy Tech Supervisor with workflow management, training, scheduling, timekeeping, customer experience and other relevant tasks that may arise.
2. Trains and mentors’ pharmacy technicians.
3. Supports pharmacy technicians as a subject matter expert for questions and comments.
4. Attends and participates in staff meetings through engaging and pertinent conversation.
5. Aids positive customer experience through effectively resolving concerns and/or questions, delivering and/or selling prescriptions, and by providing appropriate solutions.
6. Helps to ensure regulatory and compliance-related tasks are completed and current.
7. Provides coverage on an as-needed basis for Infusion referrals.
8. Maintains organized areas and clean equipment in department.
9. Assists with accuracy of pharmacy inventory.
*MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS *
• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Work Experience: Four (4) years of pharmacy technician experience.
• Licensure: Registered Pharmacy Technician licensure in the State of Florida.
• Certification: Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) from the National Pharmacy Technician certification from PTCB or NHA.
• Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
o Must be able to acknowledge emergency alerts while on-call within five (5) minutes and present to location within 60 minutes of alert
o Strong computer skills to support distribution system applications
o Flexibility and adaptability with daily schedule and assigned tasks with high initiative with ability to work independently, prioritize workload, and effectively manage time
o Strong critical thinking and analytical skills with ability to make quick, accurate decisions and respond appropriately in stressful situations
o Exceptional verbal, auditory and written communication skills to educate customers and associates with various levels of understanding
o Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with patient care teams and to train technicians effectively and appropriately
o Detail-oriented and organized with attention to accuracy, follow-through and thoroughness in an efficient manner
o Knowledge of medical terminology
o Must meet the USP Chapter 797 guidelines for sterile technique every six (6) months if actively compounding
o Ability to learn and execute financial stewardship as related to ordering duties
*PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS *
• Education: Pharmacy Technician Training Course.
• Work Experience:
o Five (5) years of Pharmacy Technician experience.
o One (1) year performing sterile compounding.
• Certification:
o Aseptic Technique certification.
o Immunization certification.
o American Heart Association (AHA) HeartSaver CPR AED course.
• Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: Skillset and Knolwedge to train associates on aseptic technique and sterile compounding.
*PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*
• Physically agile; may require walking, standing, running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, or crouching frequently.
• May occasionally include lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance.
• May require moving in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces, including reaching out and above shoulders, or overhead.
• May lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate people and/or equipment with or without assistance up to 90% of the assigned shift.
• May be exposed to inside and outside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting, and/or low to loud noise.
• May require working with biohazards such as blood/body fluids and airborne particles following OSHA and CDC guidelines.
• Communicating with others to exchange information.
• Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.
• Workspace may vary from open to confined, onsite or remote.
• May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
