Summary:
Working in coordination with the administrative manager and rehabilitation supervisor, the lead therapist acts as a principal clinical resource with advanced clinical knowledge and skills for the assigned services. The lead therapist performs therapy evaluations and applies treatment interventions in accordance of Standards of practice, state regulations and hospital policies in acute care and in-patients settings. This role oversees daily operations in the absence of the rehabilitation supervisor or manager, assisting staff as needed and handling operational issues within the scope of their authority.
Responsibilities:
1.Maintains a modified patient caseload, performs therapy examinations, develops treatment plans, and establishes treatment goals with patient input, provides treatment utilizing evidence-based practice – includes all clinically related responsibilities found on the senior therapists job description.
2.Supports supervisor with development of monthly schedules; identifies staffing needs to include use of PRN to appropriately meet caseload demands.
3.Serves as a clinical and administrative resource while maintaining responsibility for ensuring staff competency with patient care. Provides input to supervisor for employee performance appraisals and goal setting.
4.Assists supervisor with policyrevisions specific to role and monitors compliance with departmental protocols and policies.
5.Assists supervisor with monitoring and collecting peer reviewand chart audits data to ensure department maintains compliance with ongoing quality indicators.
6.Participates as assigned in department quality improvement programs and multidisciplinary work groups.
7.Facilitates staff meetings, arrange education and training sessions for professional development and competencies.
8.Works with senior therapists and clinical instructors to coordinate student program
9.Provides coverage in supervisor’s absence.
10.Accepts other duties as assigned.
Other Information:
Current Connecticut license in physical therapy. Clinical experience in acute care hospital and acute rehabilitation settings, with advanced clinical knowledge for complex diagnoses and conditions.
Bachelor's Level Degree in physical therapy.
Minimum three years of experience as senior therapist at Nuvance Health Network hospital in-patient setting with satisfactory performance consistently in all areas. Demonstrates accountability, leadership and behavioral characteristics expected for a team leader.
CPR certification, specialty certification or advanced degree in the profession.
