Position Summary: The Lead Press Operator is an important lead role in our Pasta-making organization. As a Lead Press Operator at Dakota Growers Pasta Co., you are responsible for operating multiple pasta production machines, providing daily and weekly production oversight for teams, making real-time decisions regarding complex technical issues, and providing focused people coaching to front line press staff. Duties and Responsibilities: · Review press and dryer machines for correct operational settings according to standard operating procedures; monitor and adjust production settings in order to achieve a scheduled poundage goal for each production run. Evaluate and correct machine stoppages with no supervision and report complex machine issues to Production Manager · Provide daily and weekly oversight of planned production runs and resource needs including: shift assignments, machine assignments, and production run priorities · Provide technical machine operation guidance to entire Press team through department operation oversight and general machine operation. Provide guidance to team based on machine operation outputs observed · Use production outputs/metrics and Standard Operating Procedures to make cost-effective and safe decisions on non-specification pasta (poor quality, unsafe food, etc.) · Gather information from Senior Press Operators and maintenance on mechanical issues, and use technical machine knowledge and additional internal resources to develop and implement technical solutions for uncommon production issues · Compile common training gaps across department and identify training needs for team; develop training content for team and partner with Senior Press Operators to deliver training content in classroom or production floor environment · Partner with Production Manager on front-line human resources management responsibilities including: performance management, coaching, staff development, administering company policies, and ensuring compliance with laws and regulations · Partner with company leadership to proactively identify and execute on continuous improvement opportunities in the areas of: safety, food safety, quality, productivity, and sanitation · Other duties, as assigned Education and Experience Required: · Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent AND 4 years’ experience in pasta manufacturing OR 5 years’ experience in manufacturing in lieu of education · Must be able to work weekends, holidays and overtime as needed Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills: · Previous experience operating equipment in a manufacturing setting · Previous experience working with production line control computers Physical Requirements: Qualified candidates must be able to perform the following physical job requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation: · Must be able to balance, bend, crouch, kneel, sit, stand, stoop, and reach above shoulders for 3+ hours per shift · Must be able to walk for 6+ hours per shift · Must be able to climb and work off ladder for 3+ hours per shift · Must be able to work in a dusty environment for 3+ hours per shift · Must be able to work in high heat and humidity for 6+ hours per shift · Must be able to perform simple grasping, push, pull, and perform fine manipulation for 3+ hours per shift · Must be able to lift up-to 10 pounds for 6+ hours per shift · Must be able to lift up-to 50 pounds for 3+ hours per shift · Must be able to make fine distinctions in sound · Must be able to express ideas by spoken and written word · Must be able to distinguish objects and equipment visually
