Job Summary

Internally and externally recognized, highest-level technical expert in a broad scientific
area relevant to IFF. Proven ability to identify, propose, and gain approval for new
research areas/projects. Trusted with projects/programs or significant areas of the most
critical nature. Original contributions resulting in significant commercial value and/or
technology leadership.

Responsibilities: CREATION 25 % •Facilitates group creativity to solve significant problems. •Identifies, develops, and proposes own novel technical ideas in addition to assigned programs. •Prioritizes aligning individual contributions to the scientific and business goals of the company. •Conceives and initiates projects in broad-range and/or integrated scientific areas within programs. INNOVATION / NEW TECHNOLOGY 20 % •Prepares comprehensive scientific reports which provide information/perspective to participate and influence in global strategic technology decisions. •Leads development and execution of comprehensive patent strategy for projects and/or areas of expertise. •Seeks to continuously improve individual and group expertise in focus areas in order to ensure IFF is on the leading-edge of science and technology. •Contributes to external scientific literature and conferences via significant papers, presentations, and patents. CUSTOMER INTIMACY AND TECHNICAL PARTNERSHIP 20% •Engages team, stakeholders and leadership in planning and achieving strategic objectives. •Monitors opportunities and threats and takes action to adapt work to meet goals. •Leads project collaborations with customers. •Engages internal and external stakeholders to define needs, develop research strategy, and gain agreement for ultimate plan LEADERSHIP 35% •Leads project resource and research planning, and monitors execution to accomplish project goals. •Effectively communicates impact and consequences of significant changes to all levels. •Acts as a consultant to R&D and Divisional leaders in area of expertise, and on multiple projects. •Mentors and acts as a role model to all levels within the organization. •Builds effective teams via integrating diverse talents, as well as motivating and inspiring members to excel and achieve breakthrough results. JOB REQUIREMENTS •Education and relevant experience requirements •PhD + 9 years or equivalent in relevant discipline. •Sufficient time in previous grade to demonstrate mastery of responsibilities and deliver significant contributions.
