Essential Responsibilities
You will be part of a regional engineering team for Power Quality solution for Power & Industry business (Metal, Grid, and Power Plant etc.). Working alongside project management teams, you will support and coordinate project engineering teams to meet project objectives (Quality, cost, delivery) as well as provide technical guidance and advice to the customer. You will also be instrumental in identifying and implementing improvements on processes, tools and system solutions.
Your broad technical experience within power or utility will be useful when anticipating the needs of customers by providing practical solutions to achieve customer satisfaction. In addition to this, you will also be responsible for (but not limited to):
The execution of design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirementsProduce designs, specifications and documentation for systems and supporting equipment, including generators, switchboards, transformers, converters, motors, energy storage, cabling etc.Providing technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned projectDocumenting technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and proceduresEnsure drive and project system designs comply with the relevant health & safety and applicable international standards and class society rules.Review technical drawings, documents and electrical schematics for technical compliance and functionality.Liaise with other GE Vernova businesses, sub-contractors and suppliers as appropriate in order to support the project and the business.Providing timely communications on significant issues or developmentsParticipating on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issuesAssure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and proceduresQualifications / Requirements
The successful person would:
Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree from accredited college / university in Electrical Engineering or Electronic or Instrumentation EngineeringPossess at least 7 to 10 years’ experience in a similar role within metal, power and utility industriesDraw on their excellent communication skills, to manage and influence internal and external stakeholdersTechnical knowledge on Industrial Power Conversion equipment like converters, transformers, generators, switchboards, motors, energy storage, cabling etc.Experience in design engineering or field engineeringAbility to read and write technical specificationsExcellence in Customer ServiceAbility and willingness to travel as requiredDesired Characteristics
Design or testing experiences of power quality solution such as STATCOM, SVCExperiences and knowledge of Japanese Industrial Standard such as JIS, JEC, JEAG, JEACExperiences and knowledge of Japanese Grid code and connection requirementExperience of interpreting power system studies such as: LV & MV Protection & Co-ordination / Voltage drop / dip calculations / Load flow and fault studies / Transient system and scenario analysis / Harmonic (VTHD) calculations / MV & LV power system cabling (cable selection, rating etc.) / Quality of Power Supply / EMCAbility to multi-task on a variety of projects to strict time scales, always with professionalism and integrityGood communication, report writing and organization skillsStrong problem-solving skillsStrong attention to detailStrong oral and written communication skillsStrong interpersonal and leadership skillsCross functional, ability to work on matrix environment, and international team experience.Be able to work within a team environmentDemonstrated technical aptitude and business acumenOn site commissioning experience of large projectsAbout GE Vernova:
