Lead Project Engineer
As a Lead Project Engineer here at Honeywell, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful execution of AC and DC generator testing activities and the delivery of high-quality products. You will lead and coordinate a team of engineers to facilitate testing for product development. You will report directly to the Engineering Test Services (ETS) manager, and you'll work out of our Phoenix, Arizona location on an on-site work schedule. In this role, you will impact the quality and reliability of our products through effective test engineering practices. You will work with cross-functional teams to review and define test requirements and specifications, develop and execute test plans and procedures, and analyze test results to provide valuable insights and recommendations for product improvements. Your technical guidance and facilitation will empower the test engineers in your team to excel in their roles and deliver high-quality results. Key Responsibilities + Guide the effort of testing development electric generators, creating of cost estimates, integrated schedules, and milestones for test campaigns. + Provide direction and oversight for the test team, serving as the owner of program execution and ensuring the successful delivery of projects. + Guide the prioritization of work packages, design goals, and component/system integrations, taking ownership of the overall execution of the programs. + Oversee the preparation, review, and approval of documentation and deliverables, ensuring their alignment with program objectives. + Use enterprise-based business tools to achieve project planning and cost objectives, taking ownership of the financial aspects of the programs. + Meet design objectives and requirements for development hardware and software across multiple COEs, taking ownership of the technical aspects of test programs. + Guide a small team of test engineers and technicians, potentially covering multiple locations, taking ownership of the team's performance and success. + Mentor others in the application of project scheduling, budgeting, and earned value ethics and tools, sharing your expertise and taking ownership of their development. + Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance engineering processes and efficiency U.S. PERSON REQUIREMENTS Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status or have the ability to obtain an export authorization YOU MUST HAVE + Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics + Minimum 10 years of professional experience in test engineering or a similar role + Strong communication and problem solving skills + Excellent decision-making abilities + Experience with test methodologies and tools WE VALUE + Knowledge of the design and development of rotating machinery, with a focus on rotating electric machines such as wound field synchronous or permanent magnet motors and generators. + Experience guiding the technical effort for development programs. + Familiarity with military and commercial aircraft specifications. + Familiarity with Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) activities. + Ability to work in a fast-changing environment. + Competence to convey subtle or complex messages clearly, as appropriate for the topic and audience. + Self-motivated individuals who are able to work with little supervision and consistently take the initiative to get things done. + Ability to interact with customers (internal and external), excellent writing skills, and the ability to manage a team for proposal activities. + Mastery of project management skills and techniques. + Excellent communication and problem-solving skills + Passion for innovation and continuous learning Honeywell is an equal opportunity employer.
