Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced professional to lead project planning and scheduling as part of our KBR Pluto project team based in Perth. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of expertise and the ability to manage complex schedules in a high-pressure environment. Position is offered on a contract basis via our preferred project supplier.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare summary schedules based on alternative execution strategies to support management in determining the most effective execution approach.
Develop, update, and maintain systems and procedures related to the Basis of Schedule, including project planning, scheduling, progress measurement, reporting, trending, and certification, in line with CLIENT requirements.
Conduct in-depth reviews and analyses of contractor submissions during implementation stages, focusing on planning, scheduling, progress measurement, schedule risk analysis, and productivity.
Endorse monthly physical progress claims submitted by contractors.
Identify potential schedule risks and advise Project Managers on corrective actions to maintain project timelines.
Perform critical path analyses and report areas of concern to the management team.
Review contractor resource deployment and validate adequacy based on productivity rates, recommending enhancements where needed.
Evaluate variation requests and claims for schedule extensions, preparing recommendations for management approval.
Periodically review schedule risk analyses and ensure timely implementation of agreed mitigation measures.
Coordinate with the Project Control Manager, CLIENT Project Controls Team, and contractors to ensure adherence to project control procedures and requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
Establish and monitor KPIs for ongoing projects in consultation with Project Managers, ensuring alignment with CLIENT objectives.
Prepare monthly progress reports, write-ups, and presentations for meetings.
Provide inputs to PCM, cost control, and change teams to facilitate budget preparation and justify schedule variations.
Supervise and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives.
Train and develop team members to enhance their skills and ensure they meet departmental goals.
Implement approved departmental policies, processes, systems, and quality standards to support the execution of work programs in line with CLIENT and international standards.
Contribute to achieving departmental performance objectives in alignment with CLIENT’s performance framework.
Design and implement tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes.
Identify and implement process improvements in line with ISO standards to achieve greater efficiency.
Ensure compliance with HSE policies, procedures, applicable legislation, and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards and CLIENT Code of Practices.
Provide input for preparing management information system progress reports for CLIENT management.
Liaise daily with engineering, operations, and project disciplines, as well as other CLIENT divisions, to address planning and scheduling issues.
Maintain regular contact with CLIENT EPC, operations, and engineering teams regarding service agreements and technical planning inquiries.
Coordinate with consultants and contractors to meet reporting requirements.
Skills & Experience Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or equivalent
15+ years’ experience in planning engineering including significant experience in Planning, scheduling / Project Controls activities in the EPC organization in Oil, Gas or Petrochemical industry. Must have 5 years of experience in a similar lead position.
Good computing skills with advanced knowledge of planning, scheduling software applications.
Strong planning skills with attention to detail.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Good knowledge of written and spoken English.
Certification like Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar qualifications would be advantageous.
