About the Role As a Lead Quality Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in leading quality engineering initiatives within our automotive manufacturing environment. You will provide technical support, oversee quality processes, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure excellence in product quality and manufacturing efficiency. This role also involves mentoring junior engineers, driving continuous improvement, and maintaining strong relationships with global customers. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Management + Lead, mentor, and support Quality Engineers and Technicians in achieving operational excellence. + Recruit, interview, and onboard new team members while coaching others in the hiring process. + Identify team strengths and areas for development, providing targeted training and mentorship. + Set clear performance goals and provide regular feedback to ensure continuous improvement. + Foster a culture of accountability, recognition, and professional growth. Quality & Process Management + Develop and implement Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Process Optimization strategies for new automotive product introductions. + Oversee quality assurance plans, ensuring compliance with customer and industry standards (e.g., IATF 16949, ISO 9001, AIAG guidelines). + Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for internal and supplier non-conformances. + Drive Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and Measurement System Analysis (MSA) to optimize quality. + Collaborate with suppliers to enhance quality and ensure alignment with customer requirements. + Coordinate customer quality concerns and ensure timely resolution. Continuous Improvement & Cost Management + Identify and implement process improvements to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and enhance product quality. + Utilize Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen methodologies to drive operational excellence. + Monitor and manage departmental costs, identifying opportunities to optimize resources and reduce expenses. Communication & Cross-Functional Collaboration + Act as the primary quality liaison between internal teams, suppliers, and global customers. + Facilitate cross-functional meetings to align quality objectives with manufacturing and business goals. + Ensure documentation control and compliance with regulatory and customer requirements. + Provide technical support to production teams to enhance product reliability and performance. Qualifications & Experience + Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field. + 7+ years of experience in quality engineering within automotive manufacturing. + Expertise in APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA, and Root Cause Analysis. + Experience with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and automotive quality systems. + Strong problem-solving skills and proficiency in statistical analysis tools. + Excellent leadership, communication, and project management abilities.
