Responsibilities

Oversees the Radiology Research activities within the department. Uses effective leadership, judgment, and problem-solving skills in a teamwork environment. Maintains a high level of expertise in the use of all equipment in the area. Ensures the production of high-quality images that meet the standards established by the Mayo Radiology Department. Directs and practices safety guidelines for themselves, staff, and patients. In addition to these duties, the Lead Radiologic Technologist provides leadership, builds commitment, educates, and trains personnel in the work area and generates feedback. May be required to work varied hours, shift lengths.

The Lead Radiologic Technologist will play a key role in assisting with the collaborative review and development of research imaging protocols, specifically those involving an MRI component. The Lead Radiologic Technologist will be responsible for developing and updating imaging guidelines, ensuring compliance with research protocol specifics, and providing ongoing support to clinical and research staff. This role involves a high level of attention to detail and ensuring effective communication within the team.

Collaboration & Communication:
Works effectively within teams, contributing valuable input to research study reviews and fostering teamwork across departments and teams, some of which may be external to Mayo.

Communicates clearly and concisely with stakeholders, providing updates and addressing study-related queries effectively and efficiently. 

Systems Thinking:

Completes operational review tasks accurately, updates protocols in line with study requirements, and maintains organized protocol libraries.

Proactively identifies and resolves issues related to research protocols and imaging/logistical concerns.

Acts as a knowledgeable resource for colleagues, offering support and answering study-specific questions.

Efficiently manages and updates research protocols and documents, ensuring they are accurate, accessible, and well-organized, across multiple platforms and libraries.

Technical Proficiency:
Strong knowledge of imaging protocols and scanner systems, skilled in protocol development, modification, and testing.

Responsible for scanning research patients as required



Qualifications

Must be a graduate of an ARRT approved or recognized Health Science program. 

Bachelor of Science as well as two years modality specific experience preferred. 

Strong interpersonal skills with a commitment to customer service required. Ability to improvise standard procedures required. Ability to work both independently and in a team environment, making decisions and directing work and patient flow to achieve maximum operational efficiency required. Detail oriented with strong organizational skills required. ARRT (MR) credential required. Annual documentation of modality specific certification required. CPR/BLS certification required.

$34.91 - $52.39 / hour; Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
