GENERAL COMPETENCIES

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

   BASIC – Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees in the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

   BASIC – Able to add, subtract, divide and multiply in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

   INTERMEDIATE – Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

   HIGH - Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

Key Responsibilities:

Referral Management: Coordinate and manage patient referrals from initial contact through to the appointment with the specialist. Ensure all necessary documentation and patient information is accurately collected and submitted. Track the progress of referrals and follow up as needed to ensure timely completion.

       Communication:

Serve as the primary point of contact for patients, healthcare providers, and specialists regarding referral status. Communicate effectively with patients to explain the referral process and provide updates. Liaise with healthcare providers to clarify referral details and obtain additional information if required.

       Data Management:

Maintain and update referral records in the electronic health records (EHR) system. Generate reports on referral trends, volumes, and outcomes for management review. Ensure confidentiality and security of patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.

       Process Improvement:

Identify opportunities for improving the referral process and implement solutions to enhance efficiency and patient experience. Develop and update referral policies and procedures as needed. Provide training and support to staff on referral processes and best practices.

Leadership:

Supervise and mentor a team of referral coordinators. Assign tasks and monitor team performance to ensure high standards of service are maintained. Conduct regular team meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and areas for improvement.

Skills:

Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems and other relevant software. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality standards. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

This is designated as a safety sensitive position. 

Salary: $17.66 - $25.10
