Tenth Street Animal Hospital is seeking a Certified Veterinary Technician to lead our our veterinary support team! If you enjoy teaching and leading others then this is the position for you! This teammate will be expected to oversee a team of 12+ assistants, manage scheduling, minor conflicts, promote positive culture, and more. It's the perfect growth opportuninity! Reporting to the Hospital Manager, the Lead Veterinary Technician is responsible for assisting the Hospital Manager within our fast-paced, multi-doctor veterinary hospital. The Lead Veterinary Technician will assist the Hospital Manager with HR functions including hiring/staffing, training, performance management, and instituting/maintaining compliance with policies and procedures that ensure safe and efficient practices within the hospital environment, as well as administrative tasks and client relations. Position Skills: Maintain a positive attitude in all interactions with clients, pets, and teammates. Partners with the Hospital Manager to address staffing needs including hiring, training, reviewing, and coaching staff. Utilize hospital computer systems to document medical records and communicate with clients and teammates. Proactively demonstrate the ability to show empathy towards clients and treat pets with compassion and respect. Address and work to resolve employee conflict and behavior. Meeting and exceeding business goals and objectives. Must possess excellent communication and conflict management skills. Experience leading a diverse work force and establishing a positive team environment. Experience leading a team in a veterinary environment is a preferred. Professional client communication and education obtaining medical histories and symptoms Laboratory procedures including but not limited to: hematology, cytology, urinalysis, microbiology, blood chemistry, and fecals Diagnostic imaging and implementing safety protocols of fellow staff members Nursing skills including: restraining patients, administering medications PO/IV/SUBQ/IM, applying and maintaining bandages, proficient IV catheter placement and venipuncture, surgery prep, anaesthesia monitoring Proficient in dental prophylaxis Position Requirements: Veterinary Technician Certification or Licensure (CVT, RVT, LVT, or LVMT) or the ability to transfer credentials from state to state, preferred Associates degree in Veterinary Technology, preferred Ready to help us WAG?
