As a Robotics and Autonomous Systems Engineer you will work with GE Research, GE Businesses, and external customers to define, build, and execute strategic research and development programs focused in Robotics and Autonomous Systems.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

Develop new technology concepts with strategic impact focused in robotics and autonomy, including robot software system design, system integration, and human-robot interaction.Actively lead and participate in design, architecture, and development efforts.Engage with internal and external thought leaders across the robotics technology stack to drive new concepts and applications.

Position Requirements

PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline OR Master's Degree with 2 years' experiencewith experience in design and development of autonomous systems, robotic systems, simulation environments, and/or human-robot interfaces.Strong execution track record.Legal authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.Significant experience in systems architecture, design, and system integration.Significant experience programming in C/C++/Python.Significant experience with the Robot Operating System (ROS).Significant experience in software engineering and software architectureExperience in path/motion planning, kinematic and dynamic modeling of robots.Experience developing camera and sensor driversExperience in integrating software, mechanical, and electrical components into working systems.Experience in developing user interfaces, web stack (e.g. JavaScript)Experience with robotic perception, sensor fusion, and computer vision.Possess superior problem-solving skills and independent decision-making abilities, all while operating in an extremely demanding, fast-paced team setting.Must be willing to take a drug test and submit to a background investigation as part of the selection process.Must be 18 years or olderMust be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NYYou must submit your application for employment on the Careers page at www.careers.gevernova.com  to be considered.

Desired Characteristics

3 or more years working in a defense or industrial domain.Active secret or above clearance.Demonstrated ability to convert high-level customer needs into a technical development strategy.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The salary range for this position is $95,600 - $150,000 USD, annually. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. This position is also eligible for a performance bonus. This position will remain posted until at least March 1st, 2025.
