This role will be located in our Scottsdale office on a hybrid basis.
The Lead Reserving Actuary will be responsible for preparing and overseeing the quarterly actuarial reserving process working closely with the Chief Actuary. In this role, collaboration, communication and strong technical skills are critical to ensure a comprehensive reserve analysis.
Lead processes for the department such as Reserving Analyses, Modeling, Budget etc.Perform advanced actuarial analysis, inclusive of advanced analytics and modeling, resulting in suggestions for actionsCollaborate with underwriting, claims and pricing actuaries to ensure that reserve analysis reflects all relevant and applicable informationBuild relationships with senior management with the goal of becoming a trusted advisorLead projects to refine key assumptions utilized in the reserve analysis processManage priorities to meet mandated deadlines and keep discretionary projects moving with a sense of urgencySupport the monthly and quarter financial close with reporting requirementsDevelop and implement enhancements to improve efficiency and accuracy on reserve analyses and routine processes.Work with Claims to communicate trends and patterns in key claim metrics – case reserving, closing ratios, etc.In all aspects, share the results of actuarial analyses with non-actuarial peers and executives through effective verbal and written communication and effective exhibitsProvide training and mentoring to team membersMay perform other functions as assigned.
