Responsibilities Job Summary Leads, provides and maintains clinical documentation improvement (CDI) practices to ensure consistency, meet corporate compliance guidelines. Performs second level reviews, feedback and education to CDI specialists, and monitors day-day productivity . Works closely with Coding in resolving mismatched DRGs. Coordinates with the HIM/CDI Director, CDI Manager and the CDI Physician Advisor to identify physician and service line education needs. Clinical Lead: Serves as a subject matter expert in clinical documentation improvement, data evaluation and reporting, and leads the improvement of the overall quality and completeness of clinical documentation through the application of evidence-based knowledge, analysis, in-depth review, interpretation, identification of opportunities, communication and consistent follow-up and evaluation of concurrent and retrospective (as required) medical record documentation. Clinical Analytic lead: Serves as a subject matter expert in clinical data reporting. Monitor internal key indicator metrics associated with CDI as it related to the revenue cycle and quality outcomes. Coordinates quality improvement activities. Performs record reviews as needed for completeness of clinical documentation through the application of evidence-based knowledge, analysis, in-depth review, interpretation, identification of opportunities and trends. Communicates trends to the CDI director and educator. Clinical Lead: Serves as a lead point for physician advisors. Reviews disagree or unable to determine queries to determine if they are effectively written and clinically sound and provide education and feedback as needed to CDI specialists and others. Conducts second level reviews on targeted discharge cases and works closely with Coding in resolving DRG mismatches. Clinical Analytic Lead: Performs analytical assessment of data, data manipulation, and professionally articulate data outcomes to improve operations and report to various committees, including but not limited to the Clinical Effectiveness Committee, monthly facility specific Utilization Review Committees and Chief Medical Officers reports. Conducts second level reviews on targeted discharge cases and works closely with Coding in resolving DRG mismatches, as needed. Clinical Lead: Monitors internal key indicator metrics associated with CDI as it related to the revenue cycle and quality outcomes. Works closely with Information Technology to fully understand system upgrades and testing. Coordinates any and all computerized record upgrades, testing and quality improvement activities. Clinical Analytic Lead: Monitor internal key indicator metrics associated with CDI as it related to the revenue cycle and quality outcomes. Create reports and communicates trends to management. Works closely with Information Technology to fully understand system upgrades and testing. Coordinates any and all computerized record upgrades, testing and quality improvement activities. Clinical Lead: Assists with new CDI Specialist onboarding. Clinical Analytic Lead: Assist new CDI specialist with report training and onboarding if needed. Clinical/Clinical Analytic Lead: Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education Bachelor's Degree or 4 years' work related experience RN with Bachelor’s degree or 4 in lieu of degree in relevant experience as outlined in minimum experience Required Experience 3 to 5 years of CDI experience Required Licenses and Certifications Nursing\RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure And/Or Compact State Licensure Required
