The position.
As an Lead Senior R&D Scientist working at the R&D Department in Maastricht you will be leading developments of new breakthrough concepts in the field of Packaging, Specialty papers and new adjacent fields, with strong focus on project management of the related complex projects. You will operate in a fast paced and interdisciplinary environment having to manage a broad range of responsibilities. As a Lead senior R&D Scientist you will manage multidisciplinary complex product development teams and you will be responsible for full project management according stage gate process.
This position will focus on the lead and scale up breakthrough technologies in sappi mills from Regional and Global perspective.
This function will be part of a global platform to ensure effective use of the know how and gained expertise within sappi worldwide.
Main activities
Main aspects in this dynamic role is the initiation and implementation of breakthrough technologies in line with the sappi Strive25 strategy by:
contributing to product and technology strategy of sappi leading project group with strong accent on creating dynamic output focused team create a positive working environment reflected by the ESS investigations. executing and co-ordinating complex technology projects, assuring realization of targets, planning and budget. creating extensive external network in order to execute project work in effective way building strong interface to shareholders in projects
Requirements
Master or phD degree with technical background in wood chemistry, paper making, natural sciences, (bio-) material science, engineering or related subjects. At last 5 years experience in relevant environment Experience in setting up and co-ordinating complex projects Independent and pro-active with the ability to identify and lead opportunities Ability to think creatively and communicate technical ideas effectively in both technical and non technical environments Open and out of the box mindset, clear “can do” mentality with an entrepreneurial spirit, problem solver Team player to be able to co-operate in cross-functional team, managing stakeholders on different levels of the organisation Excellent written and oral English communication
