Lead Software Developer

The Lead Software Developer will contribute to and provide technical and functional support to the Charter Time (UKG WFM Pro/Dimensions) timekeeping application. This position will be expected to follow Charter Communication's development lifecycle to design, code, configure, test, debug, and document system and application programs. Assist in preparing technical design specifications based on functional requirements and analysis documents. Document/review functional requirements, complete analysis, develop and maintain operational and system-level documentation, and provide feedback. Collaborate with other development staffs to achieve quality and consistency.


MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Actively and consistently supports all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experienceGuide team development efforts towards successful project deliveryProvide technical and functional support to the Charter Time timekeeping applicationConfigure and customize Charter Time to meet business requirements.Maintain high standards of software quality within the team by establishing good practices and habitsCollaborate with other software developers, business analysts and software architects to plan, design, develop, test, and maintain web- and desktop-based business applicationsDesign, develop, and unit test applications in accordance with established standardsParticipate in peer-reviews of solution designs and related codePackage and support deployment of releasesDevelop, refine, and tune integrations between applicationsAssess opportunities for application and process improvement and prepare documentation of rationale to share with team members and other affected partiesResponsible for compliance with company engineering standards, policies, and proceduresMaintain good relations with peers, team, other organizations, and vendorsBe part of an effective front line Leadership team and assist them with developing their direct reports as to drive a high-performance culture and environmentPerform other duties as requested by Manager


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Required Skills/Abilities and Knowledge

Ability to read, write, speak and understand EnglishDemonstrated in-depth understanding of application architecture including load balancing, ports, security, LDAP, IIS, Apache/Tomcat, etc.Advanced knowledge of SQL Server, Oracle, and/or MySQL and ability to write and evaluate T-SQL and/or PLSQLProficient with Java, .NET and web technologiesDemonstrated in-depth experience designing and developing enterprise grade softwareExperience with source control management systems and continuous integration/deployment environmentsExperience with automated testingExperience with agile development methodologies including ScrumExperience with multi-threading and concurrencyExperience with debugging, performance profiling and optimizationComprehensive understanding of object-oriented and service-oriented application development techniques and theoriesInternally motivated, able to work proficiently both independently and in a team environmentEffective communication skills with both internal team members and external business stakeholdersEffective initiative to find ways to improve solutions, systems, and processes

Required Education

Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Computer Science or Engineering from a four-year college or university; or equivalent training, education and experience

Required Related Work Experience and Number of Years

Software Developer/Architect - 6+

Business process/IT/Engineering solutions integration - 3-5

Leadership experience - 1-3

Experience in most of the following:

C#, .Net Framework, JAVA

HTML, CSS, JavaScript

ASP.Net MVC

Web Services (RESTful, WCF), XML

Application architecture, OOP, OOD

Visual Studio

Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server, PLSQL, T-SQL, SSIS, SSRS

Advance knowledge in creating and modifying data views.

Advance knowledge in creating and modifying business structure components

Required Education

Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Computer Science or Engineering from a four-year college or university; or equivalent training, education and experience
