About the team:

Authenticity Guarantee is an important initiative in eBay where a select category of items are authenticated by professional authenticators to increase buyer confidence, satisfaction & trust. Authentication Technology team is responsible for building software solutions for orchestrating the process of authentication. This involves building software solutions for receiving, shipping, warehouse operations, storage, imaging, mobile applications on android platform, integration with custom hardware

About the role:

The Lead Software Engineer is responsible for overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software solutions. This role combines technical expertise with leadership skills to guide a team of developers, ensure high-quality work, and drive the successful completion of projects. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving abilities, a deep understanding of software development practices, and experience in delivering complex solutions

Requirements:

Architect, design, develop and test complex, multi-tier distributed software systems focused on authenticating & storing high value luxury itemsDrive architecture discussions, produce well-documented design docs, and drive design and code reviews ensuring alignment to standard processesCollaborate with product managers, partners, and multi-functional teams to develop software solutions that meet functional and non-functional requirements, define project plans and work.Estimate engineering effort, plan execution cycles, and rollout system changesIdentify and address performance bottlenecks in software systems & ensure systems are secure, scalable, and maintainableWrite Unit and Integration tests and ensure software developed meets high quality standardsStay updated on emerging technologies and integrate them into development processes whenever applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field plus 8+ years of experience or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field plus 7+ years of hands-on experience in building large-scale distributed systemsExcellent understanding of computer science fundamentals, data structures and algorithms. Expertise in all layers of multi-tier applications to design complex solutions and maintain themStrong expertise in front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks/libraries like React, Angular, or Vue.js.Extensive hands-on experience and expertise in object-oriented design methodology and application development using Java/J2EE or Ruby/Rails, Design Patterns, Spring and Spring Boot frameworks, Web services and Caching mechanismsStrong expertise in designing, optimizing, and managing scalable relational and NoSQL databases to support complex software systems.Extensive hands-on experience with cloud-based systems, particularly Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including deploying, managing, and provisioning infrastructure using Terraform.Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operationsExperience leading a team of software engineers and a track record of completing projects on schedule and with high qualityExcellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have Qualifications

Experience developing mobile applications on Android platformGoogle Cloud Developer or Architect CertificationExperience in DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines using Github Actions & WorkflowsExperience in configuring and managing load balancers and networking components in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to ensure high availability, scalability, and secure connectivity.Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes
