As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Commercial and Investment Banking Technology - Cross Markets Strategic Index team, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.
Job responsibilities
Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others Owns the critical responsibility of ensuring that risk and PnL calculations are delivered on time for the global business Owns and deliver specific projects within the global program of work, in charge of the entire cycle of development from concept to delivery Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems Interact daily with the business in Asia and Europe to support the BAU book of work on risk and PnL, client reporting and structuring product expansion Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies Mentor team members with different level of seniority to provide career and technical guidance Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respectRequired qualifications, capabilities, and skills
Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT system and practical cloud native experience Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.) Experience in performant, large-scale system development in an object-oriented or functional programming language such as Python, Java, C++ or C# and the willingness to become proficient and develop in Python if not already a primary language Excellent interpersonal skills to interact confidently and credibly with business users, to understand and agree business requirements and their prioritisation while building a good understanding of end to end business processes Focus on testing through the entire development cycle to produce reliable and maintainable software Enthusiastic to keep learning and growing, in technical aptitude, business understanding and personal effectiveness Eager to take ownership of work, have real business impact, overcome obstacles and take it through to completion, working as part of this team and collaborating with a much bigger community of developers sharing the technology and code base
